This invention relates to fastenings for detachably connecting the breast straps of double harness with neck yokes.

The main objects of the invention are to prevent accidental disengagement of such fastenings; to facilitate manipulation thereof; to avoid mutilation, wear and weakening of the straps connected therewith; and generally to improve the construction and operation of devices of this class It consists in the construction, arrangement and comblnatlon of parts as herelnafter particularly described and pointed out in the claims.

The fasteningcomprises a hanger throu h which the breast strap a islooped andfree y movable; a member 6, articulated with the hanger and having an upwardly bent hook 0 for detachable engagement with a neck 'yokering or-eye'e, and means, such as an upwardly bent hook d, for detachable engagement with a connecting and locking member, such as an eye 9, to which the mar- The breast strap hanger consists of a metal loop it, formed at the ends with inwardly projecting pintles z, and with a central downwardly and sharply curved round bearing portion j, and a spool I: provided *with a metal bushing Z, which is mounted on "the pintles z.

The spool is, which is made of wood or similar material, is formed with end flanges toguide the-breast strap athereand h. The bushing Z is also preferably flanged at the ends to hold the spool 7a, which is made of softer material, out of contact with the sides of the hanger loop it.

To assemble the parts of the hanger, one of the flanges of the bushing Z may be made separate therefrom .and attached thereto after the spool is placed on the bushing, or the spool itself may be divided longitudinally into sections which are glued 0r cemented together upon the bushing. The

ends of the loop h, which is made of malleable iron or bendable metal, are primarily spread to permit the insertion of the spool with its bushing'l, into place, between the pintles e, which are then forced into the ends of the bore or hole of the bushing.

A notch 19, formed in one side of the eye 9, registers with the notch 0 in the book, when the eye is turned sidewise into abnormalposition, thereby permitting the eye to be placed on and removed from the hook (Z. In its normal'position the eye' 9 projects over the point of the neck yoke hook 0 and closes the entrance to its bight, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, thereby locking said hook in engagement with the neck yoke ring or loop e. To prevent the eye 9 from tipping sidewise away from the hook 0, and accidentally releasing it from engagement with the ring or eye 6, the hook cl is formed on the opposite side with a lug g. The shank of the eye 9 is formed with a loop for theatta'chment of the martingale f and the cross bar 1' of the loop around which the martingale f is looped and stitched or otherwise permanently fastened, is formed with a tongue 8 and at the ends with guard flanges t, which prevent the martingale from turning on and shiftin lengthwise of the cross bar a".
