ROBERT L. KILPATRICK, F HE'MPSTEAD, TEXAS.
PLOW.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 12, 19 19.
Application filed April 14, 1919. Serial No, 289,807.
' Hempstead, in the county of Waller and State of Texas, have invented certain new,
and useful Improvements in Plows, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in plows.
One object of the invention is to provide a plow of the character described, having a share which can be readily adjusted, so as to run shallow or deep, as desired.
Another object of the invention is to provide a plow of the character described, having a simple and inexpensive means of adjusting said share.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction operation and arrangement of parts, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
gigure 1, is a side elevation of the device, an
Fig. 2, is a plan view thereof.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1, refers to the plow beam, whose rear end is downwardly curved, and secured to said end, there is the vertically disposed runner, 2. -Secured to the beam are the handles 3, and these handles are braced by means of the respective braces 4:, which are attached at their forward ends to the beam, and at their rear ends are adjustably secured to the respective handles. A stock 5 is pivoted at its upper end to the beam, and secured to its lower end is the share 6. A manual lever 7 is pivoted at its lower end to the runner and this lever is connected to the stock 5 through the link 8. This link has a plurality of orifices 9, either of which may be made to register with a corresponding opening in the beam, and a bolt 10 is passed through said alined openings to secure the stock 5 in a fixed position.
When it is desired to adjust the share to run shallow, the bolt 10 is removed and the lever 7 is moved forwardly to the desired point, and the bolt 10 again replaced. When it is desired to adjust the share 6 so that it will run deep, the lever 7 is moved rear- Wardly to the desired position and the bolt 10 then replaced. Said bolt is secured against detachment by means of the nut 11.
'From the foregoing description, it' is obvious that the share may be readily adjusted to the depth required, and then secured at said point of adjustment.
What I claim is:
1. A plow including a beam, a runner to which said beam is secured, a stock pivoted at its upper end to said beam, a share carried by the lower end of the stock, a manual lever pivoted at its lower end to said runner, and a link connecting said lever and stock.
2. A plow including a beam, a runner to which the rear end of the beam is secured, a stock pivoted at its upper end to said beam, a share carried by the lower end of said stock, a manual lever whose lower end is pivoted to said runner, a link pivoted at its respective ends to the stock and lever, respectively, and means for adjustably securin said link to the beam.
3. plow including a beam, a runner to which the rear end of said beam is secured, a stock pivoted at the upper end to said beam, a share carried by the lower end of said stock, a manual lever pivoted at its lower end to said runner, a link pivoted at its respective ends to said stock and lever, respectively, and means engaging with said beam and link, whereby the latter may be adjustably secured to the former.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ROBERT L. KILPATRICK.
