IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF SUGAR Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,078, dated May 20, 1873; application filed March 1, 1873.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, AUGUST F. W. PARTZ, of Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented a certain Improvement in Transforming Granular into Solid Sugar, of which the following is a specification When thoroughly -refined moist granular sugar has been subjected to pressure the dried product is not as firm and solid as that obtained in the same manner from sugar which has not been entirely freed from sirup and the glutinous substances contained in the crude material.
The object of my invention is to render wellpurified sugar more adhesive; and it consists in dissolving a small quantity of dextrine in the water or washing-liquor last introduced into a centrifugal machine in the working of each batch of sugar.
