Description
C. C. HENDERSON.
BAG TIE.
APPLICATIGN HLED' lU-NE 10. 1920.
1,386,058, Patented Aug. 2, 192 1.
awe/Mod ammo UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BAG-TIE.
Application filed June 10, 1820.
To all whom it may oonoem Be it known that I, Crmnnns C. IIENDER- 50X, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spring Valley, in the county of Fillmore and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Bag-Tie, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bag ties, and more particularly to a bag tie especially constructed for use in connection with my invention for a device for twisting bag ties, and on which Letters Patent were granted me May 1, 1920.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a bag tie having the loops at the ends thereof, formed in a manner to insure the twisting of the tie at a point adjacent to the bag on which the same is applied, to further increase the eiliciency of the tie.
A further object of the invention is to provide a bag tie wherein the loops are of novel formations to adapt themselves to the jaws of the present tie twisting device.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and rrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit or" the invention.
Referring to the drawings Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of a tie constructed in accordance with the present invention, showing the same as connected with the aws of a tie twisting device.
Fig. 2 illustrates a plan view of the same before the tie has been positioned preparatory to twisting.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented A11 2, 1921.
Serial No. 387,918.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the bag tie includes a body portion 5 formed oi a length of wire, which has its ends formed into loops as at 6, the loops being constructed so that the main or loop portions thereof are disposed on opposite sides of the wire 0.
As shown, the extreme ends of the loop portions are bent around the body portion 5, as at 7 so that the loops are securely united with the body portion 5 in a manner to prevent displacement thereof, during the twisting of the tie around a bag.
In the use of the bag tie, the wire or body portion is bent intermediate its ends to provide opposed arms 10, the loops being positioned over the jaws 8 of the shank 9 of the tie twisting device, whereupon the shank is rotated with the result that, due to the construction of the loops, the arms 10 are moved laterally in opposite directions, the arms crossing each other close to the bag to which the same is applied.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is A bag tie including a length of flexible wire and having loops formed at the ends thereof, the loops extending from opposite sides of the length of wire, and the extreme ends of the length of wire extending toward the loop forming apart thereof.
in testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of tWo witnesses.
CHARLES c. HENDERSON.
