Be itknown that 1, WILLIAM Pnnsoo'r'r SHARP a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Apron, of which-the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip- It is awell-known fact that considerable difficulty has been experienced in the applying of body garments, such as aprons, around the waistline, in that devices of this nature have been provided usually with tapes, buttons, or snap fasteners, which fastening devices have been cumbersome, and particularly impracticable in view of their inaccessibility to the wearer.

My invention now contemplates the provision of anapron, or, in fact, any body garment provided with a waistband adapted to encircle the waistline, to be combined with means for retaining such garment in the conventional fastening means.

A further object of this invention is to provide a garment of the aforementioned -nature,'which garment may be readily applied to the body and removed therefromf,

without the loss of any time.

A final object of this invention is to provide a device of this nature which shall combine certain members adapted to be incorporated with the garment and to be appliedaround the waistline, such members being designed to clasp the waistline, however, without bearmg too heavily against the body Referring to the of an apron, with part of the waistline broken awayto disclose theunderlyin-g. at-

Briefly, described, the invention includes anapron 1, of any convenient construction, provided with a waistband 2, comprising a tubular piece of material, whose endsextend beyond thee'dges of the apron, one of such ends being left open as indicated'at 3.

Through the open end 3 is inserted a band .4, comprising two circularly extending strips 5 and 6, of semi-resilient material, and

an interposed strip 7 of spring steel to which the inner ends of the strips 5 and 6 are riveted, as indicated at 8, it being noted that the outer ends of the strips 5 and overlap one another,,as indicated at 9.

It will, of course, be understood that the arrangement of the band 4 may be varied without departing from the scope of my invention. The reason for my constructing the band in the manner aforementioned, is that this arrangement apparently combines the greatest comfort to the wearer together with economy of construction, the comfort being caused in view of the fact that the strips 5'and 6 are only semi-resilient and will not tend to too heavily engage the body of the wearer, in that the tension of the spring steel piece 7 may be readily controlled at the time of manufacture.

In operation, it willbe seen that the, apron,
