State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Article-IVrappers, of which the follow ng is a specification.
This invention relates to new and'useful improvements in article Wrappers, and the primary object of the invention is toprovide a simple and efficient means for securely wrapping articles to be malled which are not required to be sealed.
Another object of the invention is to pro-I vide an article wrapper of this character which is formed of a single piece of material.
so formed that the same is adapted to securely engage the article and hold the same therein in such'a manner that there is no likelihood of accidental opening of the wrapper when the same is once securely posi tioned.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is,
easily and simply constructed, inexpensive to manufacture, and one whichwill be very efficient in operation.
lVith these and numerous other ob ects 1n view, mymvention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which Wlll be herein re- I ferred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claim.
In the accompanying drawings: 1 The figure illustrates. a plan view of the blank from which the wrapper is formed. 7
In describing myinvention, I shall refer to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughoutthe several views.
The wrapper is formed from a single sheet of material, preferably'paper, rectangular in outline and with spaced clefts 6 and 7 g in two opposite edges. 1
The sheet is adapted to be foldedalong the dotted lines 4, 5, 8, and 9 to form a front or body 10,side flaps 11 and 12, and end flaps 2 and 3 to the front 10, end flaps 13 and 14 to the side flap 12, and the end flaps 16 and 17 to theside flaps 11. V
The folds along the lines 8 and 9 are in alinement with the clefts 6 and 7 while the folds between the end flaps and the'front Specification 01. Letters Patent.
.inner terminals of the clefts.
v Patented Oct. 19, 1920. Application fi1ed-February 12,' 1918. .Serial-No. 216,716. 1 I
Whenv the device is to be used the article I to be inclosed is disposed upon the front portion 10, the'article being of substantially the same size as the latter, one of theside flaps,
the end flaps 16fa'nd 1 7 .tuckedin between theifrontor body and the inclosed article.
The other side'flap 12 is then folded over the previously folded side fiapl1 andthe end for instance the flap 11, folds thereover and s The end flaps 3 and 2 of the front 10 are 7 a then preferably tucked in between the previously tucked in fiaps'f13. and Hand the front 10. Thisnovel arrangement of the wrapper over the article will securely hold the same in position dental disengagement. r This type of wrapper is especially adapt- -andprevent its 1 accied for use n mailing articles such as advertis'ing matter or the like which it is not required to seal. The front portion .10 may beused to contain the address and the wrap-v per forms a combined envelop and holder; 1 Owing to the factthat the wrapper is formed be eco nomically manufactured and'no' ad esive or any other fastening elements areemployed of a single pieceof material-itma other than the simplet'ucked in flaps heretofore described. This novel arrangement is. I sufficient to securely hold thearticle wrapped during its transmittal and will absolutely.
prevent any accidental disengagement.
q 7 From the foregoing descriptiontakenin.
connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of. the construction, operation, and-advantages of my-invention may be had, and while I have shown and described the device as embodying a specific structure, I desire that .it be understood that such changes may be made in 100 V spirit and scope of the invention, as claimed. u
said structure as do notdepart'from the Having fully described my. invention,
what I claim is new, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is z a w a j A wrapper of-the class described formed from. a sheet of material with relatively short clefts'in spaced relation in the ends,
whereby correspondingly short end flaps are 2 '1,sss,so4
produced, the sheet being foldable along lines between'the-oonfronting ends of the clefts and in alinement therewith to-form' side flaps, and the end portions of the sheet foldable along the lines even withthejnper ends of the clefts to forni'shbrt end flaps rethe front portion'to form a receptacle for an object, and the shorter end flaps tucked 10 I into retain the contents of the wrapper Without preventin ins ectipn thereof.
