ENVELOP.
To all whomv 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. MoCLoY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ada, in the county of Hardin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Ilnprovements in Envelops; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suc-h as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in envelops.
The object of the invention is to provide an envelop having means arranged therein for safely holding coins, stamps or other small objects which might become lost from the envelop in transmission through the mail.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction', combination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.,
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of an envelop having my invention applied thereto, parts of the envelop being broken away to disclose the invention; Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same with the flap in -open position'and parts broken away; Fig. 3 is a cross section on the line 3 3 of Flgl l; Fig. 4 is a rear view of the envelop with the flap open showing a modified form of the invention; Fig. 5 is a cross section on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4; Fig. 6 is a detail section on the line 6--6 of Fig. 4; Fig. -7 is a detail perspective View of the pocket removed from the envelop.
. Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the envelop which may be of the usual or any desired construction having a closing tlap 2. Arranged in the upper corner of the envelop opposite to the corner on which the stamp is usually placed is a ocket 3 formed of paperor any suitable abrio, said vpocket comprising side pieces having their inner and lower edges jointed together or formed integral, while the outer and upper edges are left open, as shown. The outer edge of the pocket. is closed by the end o f the envelop, while the upper edge is closed by the flap 2 when the latter is brought down and sealed in a closed position. The pocket may be secured -in position in the upper corner of the envelop .by pasting one -side orthe other thereof to the Specification of Letters iPatent.

inner side of the front or back of the envelop, as shown in the first three figures of the drawing, or the pocket may be held in position by extending one side of the same upwardly and folding said extended portion of the side down upon itself to form a flap 4, which is hooked over or engaged with the upper edge of the rear side of the envelop, said Hap 4 being pasted or otherwise secured to the rear side of the envelop, thus holding the pocket in place. vA pocket constructed and arranged in the envelop as herein shown and described will provide a convenient and inexpensive receptacle for securely holding coins, stamps or other objects during transmission through the mails, thus guarding against the loss of such articles which frequently occurs when they are placed loosely in the envelop.
By arranging the pocket in the upper corner of the envelop opposite to that on which the stamp is usually placed, the pocket or the article contained therein will not interfere with the stamping of the envelop or the cancellation of the stamp thereon.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood wit-hout requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention as defined in the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A detachable and removable pocket for envelops comprising a. single piece of material shaped to provide a front wall and a rear wall connected to each other at one side and the bottom, the rear wall being provided with an upwardly-extended flap adapted to be folded rearwardly and downwardly upon said rearwall and adapted to be detachably hooked over an edge portion of the envelop. v
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM A. MoCLOY. Witnesses:
