GEORGE EARL TREESE, 0E ToLEDo, OHIO, ASSIGNOR To THE ToLEDo SHOWER COMPANY, OF ToLEDo, OHIO.
SHOWER AND CLEANING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 22, 1920.
Application filed October 3, 1919. Serial No; 328,141.
1 b all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEoRcn E. TnEEsE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have .invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shower and Cleaning Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a shower and cleaning device for bath rooms, and the object of this invention is the construction of a brush device which can .be used as a cleaning device as well as a shower.
Another object of this invention is the construction of a device for cleaning bath tub's by attaching the cleaning brush to the device, which brush, when water is being passed out through the shower, forms a practical means for this purpose.
With these and other objects in view, my
invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 is a vertical, sectional view of a device constructed in accordance with the present invention, while Fig. 2 is a section taken on line 2-2, Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 designates the handle of my device which is provided with a grip 2 and a bent portion 3; the outer end 4 of the handle 1 is suitably constructed for receiving a flexible hose, and by bending the handle 1 at 3, the inner end 5 is positioned at a suitable angle for placing the head 6 of the brush at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the main portion of the handle 1., whereby an efiicient operation can be carried out when the device is in use. The handle 1 is provided near its inner end with a rib or shoulder 7 and a housing 8 is electrically welded to shoulder or rib 7. The housing is concavo-convex at its center. Suitable bristles 10 are fastened in head 6, and the head is threaded upon the It is to be understood that my device can be used as a cleaning device, or by the operator gripping the handle 2 and inverting the head of the brush, it can be used efficiently as a shower; in many homes where the shower bath is not provided, my brush will perform the function of a cleaning brush, as well as a shower, as water can be sprayed upon the body in any position, and thereby produce satisfactory results at a minimum cost.
I wish it to be understood that in carrying out the manufacture of my improved brush and shower device on a large scale, certain minor changes or alterations may be found advisable, or necessary, and I reserve the right to make such minor alterations or changes as shall appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates, which shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
In a device of the class described, the combination of a handle provided with an integral, annular rib near its discharge end and with a threaded portion upon the discharge end, a housing provided with a con-- and a spraying or showering nozzle in the end of the handle upon which is threaded the head, and being capable of directing liquidthrough the clear, central portion ofthe head, unobstructed by bristles.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
GEORGE EARL TREESE.
