' TOWEL-RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 2.2, 1917.
Application filed September 24,' 1915. Serial N o. 52,445.
T 0 all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, MARIA A. GrILLILAND,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Adrian, in the county of Lenawee and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Towel-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved rack, especially adapted for use as an individual, sanitary towel rack, for holding a number of towels, preventing the towels from coming in contact with one another and enabling any towel to be removed from the rackat any time without touching any of the other towels, the `object of the invention being to provide an improved towel rack ofthis kind for use in households, hospitals, offices and other places, and which is extremely cheap and simple, is strong and durable and is sightly and pleasing in appearance.
The invention vconsists in the construction and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed. v
In the accompanying drawings Figure l is a front elevation of a towel rack constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is. a sectionalview on the plane indicated by the line a-avof Fig. l.
My improved towel rack comprises a number of bars 1 and a bracket 2 to which the bars are connected, which bracket serves to support the bars, in spaced relation 4and to' arrange the bars at different e1evations,so that the towels on the `bars may be removed and replaced separately and without coming in contact with one another. The bars are of suitable length and the bracket is secured to thecenter of the bars so that each bar is either materially assist in holding the towel in place,
The bracket 2 has a base plate 7 provided with openings 8 for the reception of securing screws whereby to fasten the towel rack to a door, wall, or other supporting object. The bracket also has a lower outwardly eX- tending arm 9 which is preferably curved as shown and a reversely curved and inclined arm 10 which extends from near the outer end of the arm 9 to the upper end of the the towels may be grasped at that portionwhich passesover the bar and removed from the bar without coming in contact with any of the other towels.l
It will be understood from the foregoing description that my improved rackr is de signed for use by a number-of persons, such as the members of a'household, soithat each member of the household has his individual bar on the rack and his individual towel or towels on said bar and that while all towels are held by the rack, so that any one of them may be readily and instantly removed or replaced, each towel is held distinctly and separately from all the other towels and prevented from coming in contact therewith. Hence my improved rack is sanitary in a very high degree.
While I have herein shown and described a preferredv form o-f my invention `I would have it understood that changes maybe made in the form, proportion and vconstruction of the several parts without departing from the spirit of the invention and within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim An individual sanitary towel rack comprising a bracket having an inclined arm made of a single strip of material and proinclined arm together and in mutual con- 1@ vided With outstanding doubled portions tact and also securing the supporting bars in forming non-circular bearings, towel supsaidbearings.
porting bars non-circular in cross-section In testimony Whereoi:l I aiiX my Signature and arranged n said bearings and held in presence of two Witnesses.
thereby and by said inclined arm in spaced MARIA A. GILLILAND. relation, at dierent elevations and also in Witnesses:
dierent vertical planes, and clamping JOSEPH P. LIBS,
means securing the doubled portions of said ETHEL M. KAISER.
