WILEY C. PERRY, OF OKLAHOMA, OKLAHOMA.
MUSIC-LEAF TURNER.
Application filed April 21, 1916.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILEY C. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oklahoma city, in the county of Oklahoma, State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Music- Leaf Turners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to im provements in music leaf turners, and has for its object to provide a device of this character constructed in such a manner that the leaves of book music can be quickly turned.
A further object of the invention is to provide a music leaf turner constructed in such a manner that the same can be readily engaged upon the usual music rack of a piano and manipulated to turn a plurality of music leaves successively.
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 4l--4 of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 5-5 of Fig. 1. Fig. 6 is a fragmentary detail perspective view.
Referring to the drawing 1 indicates a frame, which consists of vertical end bars 2, top bars 3 and a bottom bar 4, said bar having its bottom surface provided with a longitudinal groove 5 which is adapted to detachably engage the usual ledge of the music rack. Mounted on the bar 4: is a casing 6, said casing having an open front and extending longitudinally of the open front is a horizontal bar 7, said casing being further provided with a strip 8, the purpose of which will appear later.
Supported by the frame 1 and easing 6 is a supplemental frame 9, said frame consisting of a top bar 10, side bars 11 and a cross bar 12. Slidable in the bar strip 8 i are rods 13, the lower ends of said rods ter- Specification of Letters Patent.

minating in horizontal arms 1 1 which have their outer ends provided with vertical arms 15, the upper ends of said arms being pro vided with buttons 16. The bar 7 engages the arms 1% and limits the upward movement thereof. Fixed to the rods 13 are spaced fingers 17, said fingers being adapted to slidably engage the webs 18 which are formed integral with the rods 19, said rods being journaled in the bars 10 and 12 and strip 8. It will be noted that the webs 18 are spirally formed so that when the rods 1.3 are forced downwardly the rods 19 will be compelled to make a half of a revolution, which will swing the leaf turning arms 20 which are connected to the upper ends of the rods 19. The outer ends of the arms 20 have connected thereto sections 21, said sections having hingedly connected to their lower ends the upper ends of the fingers 22, the lower ends of which being provided with clips 23 for engaging the music leaves of a book or sheet.
Connected centrally of the bar 3 of the frame 1 is a spring clip 24 which is adapted to engage the music book so as to hold the same in its proper position and with the leaves desired to be turned engaged by the clips 23.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that when it is desired to turn a leaf, it is only necessary to press downwardly on the proper button 16 whereupon the associated rod will be moved downwardly, and since the fingers 17 engage the webs 18, it is obvious that downward movement of said fingers will cause the rods 19 to turn, thereby swinging the arms 20 and fingers lVhen it is desired to return the leaf to its initial position, it is only necessary, of course, to pull upwardly on the button 16 so as to move the rods 13 upwardly.
What is claimed is A music leaf turner comprising a frame, a. supplemental frame supported by the first named frame, a casing carried by the supplemental frame, U-shaped rods slidably engaged with the casing, other rods rotatably engaged with the first named frame and having spirally arranged webs thereon, spaced fingers carried by one of the vertical arms of the U-shaped rods and slidably engaged with the webs, the other vertical arms of the U-shaped rods being slidably con- In testimony whereof, I afiix my signanecteg Wdthl thedcasilg f0; virticiillly movd ture, in the presence of two Witnesses.
