To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, l/VAL'rnR T. 130130, a citizen of the United States, residing at 'tle Creek, county of Calhoun, State of: lnlchigan, have invented certain new and usei'il improvements in Truss-Pads, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in truss pads.

The main object of this invention is to provide an improved truss pad which can be inflated to secure the desired degree of resiliency and one which is simple and economical in its parts.

Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.

I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification.

A. structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a pa rt of this specification, in which:

Referring to the drawing, my improved pad comprises a rubber casing 1 of suitable conformation having an opening 2 in the rear wall thereof, the rear wall of the casing being flat. lt ithin the casing is a thin rubbe inner container 3 provided with an air valve secured by a valve plate 5.

I arrange an inner plate 6 within the casing, the plate having an annular groove 7 adapted to receive internal annular rib 8 on the rear wall (see Fig. III). This inner plat-e also has threaded boses 9 adapted to receive the attaching screws 10 which are disposed through an outer plate 11 and the attaching strap 12. pose of the elongated holes is to permit the adjustment of the angle of the strap relative to the pad, as, when the screws 10 are loosened the strap may, for purposes of adjustment, be swung to a limited extent about the stem l. The casing is preferably provided with a covering 14: of silk or other suitable material. The edges of this covering are drawn over the rear wall of the casing and clamped between the casing and the strap 12. Thus the parts are effectively secured by means of the screws 10. The screws 10 are preferably provided with collars 15 so that their outer ends constitute studs 16 for the strap couplings 17 which have inner slots 18 therein, as shown in Fig. ll. The valve i is provided with a cap 19. The covering 1 1 may be quickly renewed as occasion requires. The strap 12 is provided with a buckle 20 for the supporting belt 21. The other end of the belt 21 is secured to the coupling member 17. The crotch strap 22 is provided with a coupling member 23.

I have described the container as being an air container but it may be filled with a liquid, such as water or oil.

lVith the parts thus arranged the pneumatic container may be inflated to the desired extent to produce the desired rigidity or flexibility of the pad. The parts are so shaped and arranged that they are economical to'produce and easily and quickly assembled.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In a truss pad, the combination of a rubber casing having an opening in its rear wall, an inner container disposed within said casing and provided with a valve, an inner closure plate disposed within said casing to overlap the edges of the opening in the rear wall thereof, a fabric casing coverhaving its edges drawn over the rear wall of said covering, a supporting strap disposed over said covering, an outer closure plate disposed over said strap,'said plate and strap having registering openings through which said valve projects, and screws disposed through said outer plate and strap and threaded into said inner plate whereby the parts are secured together and the inner wall of the casing closed, said strap being provided with openings for permitting the adjustment of the strap.

In a truss pad, the combination of a rubber casing having an opening in its rear wall, an inner container disposed within' said casing and provided with a valve, an inner closure plate disposed within said casing to overlap the edges of the opening in the rear wall thereof, a fabric casing covering having its edges drawn over the rear wall of said covering, a supporting strap disposed an outer closure plate disposed over said strap, said plate and strap having registering openings through which said valve projects, and screws disposed through said outer plate and strap and threaded into said inner plate whereby the parts are secured together and the inner wall of the casing closed.

3. In a truss pad, the combination of a rubber casing having an opening in its rear wall, an inner container disposed within said casing and provided with a valve, an inner closure plate disposed within said casing to overlap the edges of the opening in the rear wall thereof, a fabric casing covering having its edges drawn over the rear wall of said covering, a supporting strap disposed overrsaid covering, an outer closure plate disposed over said strap, said plate and strap having registering openings through which said valve projects, and screws disposed through said outer plate and strap and threaded into said inner parts are secured together and the inner wall of the casing closed, said screws being provided with collars spaced from their heads so that the screws constitute attaching studs.

4. In a truss pad, the combination of a rubber casing having an opening in its rear wall, an inner container disposed within said casing and provided with a valve, an inner closure plate disposed within said casing to overlap the edges of the opening in .the rear wall thereof and having outwardly pro ecting internally threaded bosses, a fabric casing covering having its edges drawn over the rear wall of said covering, a supporting strap disposed over said covering, an outer closure plate disposed over said strap, said plate and strap having central registering openings through which said valve projects, and screws disposed through said outer plate and strap and threaded into said bosses of said inner platewhereby the parts are secured together and the inner wall of the casing closed.
