To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN A. TICKOFF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Moline, in the county of Rock Island and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Plow-Bottoms, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention relates to plow bottoms, and it has for its object to produce a plow bottom of simple and improved construction which will enable the share, to be readily detached for sharpening or repairs and afterward replaced with little trouble and loss of time, and which will also admit of the share being easily and quickly replaced by a new one.

A further ob ect of the invention is to.

simplify and improve the construction of the frog with which the mold board and the share are detachably connected. A further object of the invention is to simplify and improve the construction of the share and the mold board and of the means whereby said share and mold board are detachably connected with the frog.

With these and other ends in view which will readily appearas the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims. In the accompanying drawings has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the recise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claims may be resorted to when desired.

In the drawings,-Figure 1 is a top plan view of a plow bottom constructed in acv cordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the same. which is suitably curved to afford a seat for the share and the mold board. Said body plate has a flange or side member- 16, the latter being provided at its forward end with a T-shaped slot 17 The body plate 15 is also provided with a rectangular opening 18 and with a rib or flange lt), the latter being formed on theunderside of the frog and extending adjacent to one side of the rectangular slot oropening 18. The rib or flange 19 has a bolt opening 20 and a bolt receiving notch 21. 4

The mold board is provided on its underside with a downwardly extending flange 22 having bolt openings 23, 24.] The mold board is also provided on the under face thereof with lugs 25 adapted to abut on the upper'or rearward edge portion of the frog, said lugs being each-provided with a flange 26 adapted to engage beneath the frog. It will be noticed that the frog is provided with a cut-away portion forming a recess 27 engaged by one of the lugs 25. The flange 22 is adapted to be inserted through the slot 18 in the frog, being connected with the flange 19 by means of a relatively short bolt 28 engaging the apertures 20, 23 and by the relatively long shank 29 of an eye bolt having an elongated keyhole slot or eye 30, said shank engaging the notch 21 in the flange 19 and the opening 2 1 in the flange 22.

The share 31 has a landside portion 32 with which a T-shaped block 33 is connected by means of a bolt 34 extending through an elongated slot 35 in the shank portion of the T-shaped block. The share is also equipped on its underside with a downwardly extending stud or post 36 having a head 37 an with a lug'38 having a flange 39.

In assembling the parts of the improved plow bottom together, the mold board is first'assembled with the frog with which it is connected by means'of the bolt 28, the latter having a nut 4H) which, however, is not at first drawn very tightly on the bolt. The share is now placed in position with the flanged lug 38 engaging the frog and with the T-shaped block 33 engaging the T- shaped slot 17 The shank 29 of the eye bolt is engaged with the notch 21 of the flange 20 and also with the opening 24 of the flange 22, a nut 41 being threaded on said shank, while the keyhole-shaped eye 30 is placed in engagement with the headed stud or post 36, the engagement of the eye with the post being made eifective by tightening the nut 41 against the flange 22. After the parts have been properly adjusted the T-shaped block is moved into engagement with the lower wall portions of the slot 17 and secured by tightening the bolt 34-, after which the nuts on the bolt 28 and the shank 29 of the eye bolt are securely tightened. The parts will thus be maintained in perfect security with respect to each other and also with respect to the plow standard and landside which, however, have not been shown.

To detach the share it is only necessary to loosen the nut ll on the shank of the eye bolt sufficiently to enable the eye to be disengaged from the headed stud or post 36. The share may then be very readily detached and replaced, this beinglargely due to the fact that the flange 19 is provided with a notch instead of an aperture for the reception of the shank of the eye bolt, thus enabling the latterto be lifted out of engaging position without necessity for detaching it completely.

It will be seen from the foregoing that I have produced a plow bottom of very simple and inexpensive construction which permits of the parts being very readily disassembled for resharpening the share or otherrepairs. It will, moreover, be noted that the top faces of the share and the mold board are entirely smooth and unbroken, thereby permitting the plow to scour the dirt without the least danger of any obstructions accumulating in the bolt holes or other openings or recesses which are found in plows of ordinary construction, it having been found that even if the connecting bolts are countersunk, the countersunk heads will eventually become reduced and will thus sink below the top face of the scouring surface, thereby producing recesses or cavities in which dirt will quickly accumulate with deleterious results.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is

1. In a plow bottom, a frog having a landside member provided with a T-shaped slot, a share having a flange, a T-shaped block, the shank of Which has an oblong aperture,

and a bolt whereby said T-shaped block is connected with the flange for adjustable engagement with the T-shaped slot in the landside member.

2. In a plow bottom, a frog having a rectangular slot, a rib adjacent to said slot and provided with a bolt hole and a bolt receiving notch, and a landside member formed on the frog; a mold board having a flange engaging the rectangular slot, said mold board provided also with flanged lugs engaging the frog; a connecting bolt extending through the flange of the mold board and through the aperture of the rib; a share having a frog-engaging flanged lug, and a downwardly extending headed stud; and an eye bolt having a keyhole-shaped eye engaging the headed stud, and a shankseated in the notch formed in the rib upon the frog and extending through the flange on the underside of the mold board.

In a plow bottom, a frog having a rectangular slot, a rib adjacent to said slot and provided with a bolt hole and a bolt receiving notch, and a landside member formed on the frog; a mold board having a flange en gaging the rectangular slot, said mold board provided also with flanged lugs engaging the frog; a connecting bolt extending through the flange of the mold board and through the aperture of the rib; a share having a frog-engaging flanged lug, and a downwardly extending headed stud; and an eye bolt having a keyhole-shaped eye engaging the headed stud, and a shank seated in the notch formed in the rib upon the frog and extending through the flange on the underside of the mold board, said share being also provided with a flange member and a T-shaped block adjustably mounted thereon in engagement with the T-shaped slot in the landside portion of the from In testimony whereof I my signature in presence of two witnesses.
