SANITARY CLOSET.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 12, 1916.
Application :filed June 5, 1914. Serial No. 843,176.
To all whom may concern.'
Be it known that I, MOSES M. MARcUsn, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the borough of Manhattan, in the city and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sanitary Closets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to sanitary closets and is more particularly directed to that type known as commodes where a tank or other suitable receptacle is provided for receiving the deposits usual to the proper use of the closet, which receptacle has to be removed from time to time for dumping the said deposits.
'Ihe object of my invention is to provide a pump for discharging more or less of the contents of the receptacle from time to time into a second receptacle exterior to the closet, thereby doing away with the disagreeable necessity of removing and replacing the closet receptacle except at rare intervals.
A practical embodiment of my invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a detail horizontal section taken in the plane of the line A-A of Fig. 2, Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section taken in the plane of the line B--B of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a detail vertical section taken in the plane of the line C-C of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a detail section through the drip cup showing the method of removably attaching the same to the closet receptacle.
rIhe sanitary closet in connection with which I have chosen to illustrate my invention comprises the base 1, the seat 2, the cover 3, the side walls 4 and the front door 5, which door is hinged at 6. Within the cabinet is located the tank or other suitable receptacle 7 for receiving the deposits usual to the proper use of the closet. A manually operated pump 8, of well known or approved construction, may be carried by the receptacle 7 between its front wall and the front door 5 of the cabinet where the pump is concealed from view when the door 5 is closed. rllhis pump is provided with an opening 9 communicating with the interior 0f the receptacle 7 and it is further provided with a flexible connection 10 adapted to be connected to a separate receptacle 11 shown in dotted lines, Figf2, exterior to the sanitary closet when the door 5 of the cabinet is opened. 'Ihe pump is provided with a suitable handle 12 in convenient position for manually operating the same. A drip cup 13 is removably secured to the receptacle 7 in position to receive any drippings from the free end of the flexible connection 10, holders 14 being provided on the receptacle 7 for retaining the iexible connection 10 in its position to discharge the drippings into the drip cup 13, when the pump is not in use.
What I claim is:
l. In a sanitary closet, a suitable casing, a receptacle therein, a pump located between the casing and the receptacle and permanently connected to and communicating with the receptacle, the said pump having a flexible lconnection adapted to be removably connected to a separate receptacle for discharging the contents from the first named receptacle into the second named receptacle.
2. In a sanitary closet, a suitable casing, a receptacle therein, a pump located between the casing and the receptacle and permanently connected to and communicating with the receptacle, the said pump having a flexible connection adapted to be removably connected to a separate receptacle for discharging the contents from the first named receptacle into the second named receptacle, a drip cup on said first named receptacle for the flexible connection and means for retaining the flexible connection in position to discharge any drippings therefrom into said drip cup.
In testimony, vthat I claim the foregoing as my invention, l have signed my name in presence of two witnesses, this twentysecond day of May 1914.
MOSES M. MARCUSE.
