MOLD.
Application filed July 20, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID A. citizen of the United States, residing at Martinsville, in the county of Clark and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molds; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to molds, and more particularly to a mold especially designed for molding fence posts, concrete columns, and the like.
Theinvention has for its primary object to provide a fence post mold of efficient and inexpensive construction embodying essentially a sheet metal body plate and detachable end members retaining the body plate in properly curved position and constituting closures for the ends of the mold.
WVith this and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated 'n the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the mold support or holder, illustrating one of the improved molds positioned therein. Fig. 2 represents a transverse sectional view through the mold. Fig. 3 represents a central sectional view through one of the end members or closures of the mold, and Fig. at represents a perspective view of a preferred type of fence wire securing member adapted to be partially embedded in the concrete fence pos Referring to the drawing in detail, .wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 indicates a piece of flexible sheet metal or other suitable material bent into the substantial cylindrical formation, illustrated in Fig. 1, and'preferably tapered from one end to the opposite end so as to produce the desired taper in the fence post or column to be molded. The curved plate 5 constitutes the body of the mold and is adapted to be removably sup- DYER, Jr., a

ported in notches 6 formed in the end members 7 of a supporting frame 8.
The longitudinal edges 9 of the body 5 of the mold are spaced an adequate distance apart to permit filling of the mold and also to permit setting of the wire fence fasteners 10 in the plastic material. One end of the body 5 of the mold is closed by a removable end member, designated generally by the numeral 11, and including a circular plate Patented Nov. 21, 1916. I
12 having an annular flange 13 of adequate and frictionally grip the relatively large end of the body 5. The plate 12 preferably projects a distance laterally of the annular flange 13, thereby providing a finger hold so asto facilitate re moval of the end member 11 from the body 5. .The opposite extremity of the body is closed by a removable end member, designated generall by the numeral 14:, and including a conical member 15 terminating in an annular flange 16 of adequate size to snugly receive the the body 5. An annular flange 17 is preferably formed integral with and secured to the end member 14: to facilitate removal 0 the latter from the body of the mold.
In use, the parts comprising the mold are assembled, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1, and the material from which the fence posts or other articles areto be made is introduced into the mold through the space between the adjacent longitudinal edges 9 of the cylindrical body 5. During setting of the plastic materialthe fence fasteners 10 are embedded therein, and after the plastic 7 body to prevent spreading of said body, a
