To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ERNEST C. PIERCE, a citizen of the 'UnitedStates, and a resi dent of Sioux City, in the county of Noodbury and 'State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose- Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to hosesupporters. V The invention has .forits primary object the production of an improved hose-supporter particularly adapted for women and children.

Another object of the invention is the production ofv an article of this class so designed that the tension'upon thehose is the same at all times, regardless of the position of the wearer.

A further object of the invention is the production of a hose-supporter adapted to be worn with perfect comfort and not injure the health.

A still further object of the invention is the production of an improved hose-supporter inexpensive in production yet thoroughly efl'icient and dependable in use.

With'these and other objects in view, the invention, consisting in the construction, combination and novel arragementofpart-s, will be fully understood from the following description, reference being had to the accompanyino drawings which form a part of this application and in which like charactors of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, of which,

Figure 1 is a side view of a model attired with supporters made in accordance with the invention; Fig. 2 is a front view of the same, the form being outlined by broken lines; Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of the intersecting girdles; and Fig. 4 is a detail in side elevation of the connection between the hose-supporting straps and the girdles.

Although I have illustrated and heroin after described an embodiment suitable for practising the invention. I would not be understood as being limited to the specific garment chosen for illustration, for various alterations and modifications in the details of construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the across, one side of each girdle being disposed above the ileum and the other side resting upon the opposite hip-joint. From. points upon the girdles coincident with the hipjoints depend suitable hosesupporting members. Means are provided whereby the girdles may be opened to facilitate their application and removal, all. of which will presently be made clear. I

Referring now to the illustrations, the girdles, which maybe of any suitable material; as web straps, each consists of two separate straps, 5 and 6. The straps 6 are oppositely disposed to each other and each extend from a point coincident with the hipjoint, 7, diagonallyacross the back, then around the-side at a point on the crest of the ileum, 8. The front ends of these straps are stitched, as at 9. or otherwise secured 'to suitable flaps, 10. which overlap each other at the front median line and are suitably adapted to be interconnected, as by buttons, 11. secured upon one flap and engageable by button-holes, 12, in the companion flap.

The straps 6 are stitched at one end. as at 13, or otherwise secured to the flaps. The. lower ends of both straps 5 and 6 are interconnected. For this purpose I provide suitable members as triangular plates, 24, which are positioned coincident with the hip-joints and provided with slots, 25. The straps are preferably adjustably secured to the plates as by passing the straps through the slots and securing the ends to sliding buckles, 15, upon the straps, which adjustment is familiar in the art.

The straps, 5, it will be observed, cross each other in the back, and in order to prevent entanglement of the device when not in use, I prefer to make each of said straps of two pieces, the end portions of which overlap each other and have their extreme ends plates, 26, provided with slots, 27. From the plates, 26, depend straps, 17, the upper ends of which are looped through the slots 27, and their extreme ends riveted, or otherwise secured to the adjacent portions of the straps, as at 18. The said straps are preferably made adjustable, as by forming loops, 19, on their lower ends and securing their extreme ends to buckles, 20, engageable with the intermediate portions of the straps. The loops l9 inclose wire links, 21, through which pass the bights of elastic straps, 22, provided at their ends with hoseengaging clips, 23.

Inasmuch as the relative positions of the ileum and the hip-joint are constant and the relationship of the hip-joint to the top of the hose is always the same, it follows that the tension upon the hose will always be the same regardless of the position of the body.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is,

l. A garment-supporter comprising oppositely-disposed girdles, each including a strap adapted to extend from the hip-joint, across the back, around the opposite side adjacent the ileum and approach the front median line, and a second strap interconnected with said first strap adjacent the hipjoint and extended diagonally toward and connected with the front end portion of the first-described strap of the other girdle, means for detachably interconnecting the girdle in the front, and garment-supporting members secured to the girdles at points coincident With the hip-joints.

2. A hose-supporter comprising oppositely disposed girdles adapted to encompass the body and each including a strap adapted to extend from the hipjoint across the back, around the opposite side adjacent the ileum and approach the front median line, and a second strap interconnected with said first strap adjacent the hip-joint and adapted to extend diagonally toward the front median line, separate front members each connecting the first-described strap of one girdle with the second-described strap of the other girdle, means for interconnecting said members, and hose-supporting members secured to the girdles at points coincident with the hip-joints.

3. A hose-supporter comprising oppositely disposed girdles adapted to encompass the body and each including a strap adapted to extend from the hip-joint across the back, around the opposite side adjacent the ileum and approach the front median line, and a second strap interconnected with said first strap adjacent the hip-joint and adapted to extend diagonally toward the front median line, separate front members each connecting the first-described strap of one girdle with the second-described strap of the other girdle, means for interconnecting said members, and hose-supporting members pivotally secured to the girdles at points coincident with the hip-joints.
