FLUSH-TANK.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented' Ag. 27, 1918.
Application led Apr-i120, 1918. Serial No. 229,708.
To all whom 'it may concern.'
Be is known that I, IRVING B. WINTERS, a
citizen of the United States, 'residing at Wyckoff, in the county of Ber en and State of New Jersey, have invente certain new and useful Improvements in Flush-Tanks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in flush tank's and ,it is an object of the invention to provide 'a device of this general character having novel and` improved means whereby wate'r sweating from the tank will be collected and discharged describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Flgure 1 is a fragmentary view partly in section and partly in elevation illustrating a flush tank constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention; and
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view partly in section and partly in' elevation illustrating the features of my invention coacting with the bowl.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings B denotes a box of predetermined dimensions formed of china, enamelware or the like and arranged within the box B is the tank T. The side and bottom walls of the tank- T are spaced from the adjacent walls ofthe box B a slight distance, preferably one-quarter inch. whereby the tank T is surrounded' by an air space. Extending through the bottom of the box B and the tank T is a supply pipe S which affords a support for one side portion of the tank and interposed between the opposite side portion of the tank T and the box B is a member 1 for. affording additional support to the -tank T.
F denotes a flush pipe leading to the bowl A and said pipe F 1s surrounded by the casing C spaced therefrom and in communica- .tion through the bottom of the box B with the air space surrounding the tank T. It is preferred that the bottom 2 of the box B be concavo-convex with the casin in communication with the low portion t ereof so that the moisture or water sweating throughv the tank T will readily flow to the casing C. The casing'C has its lower end portion in communication with the interior of the bowl A through'the restricted openings 3 so that the water or moisture collected within -the caslng C will be discharged within the bowl A so that the collected water or moisture will not lay stagnant within the casing C or within the box B.
I do not wish to be understood as limitlng myself in any way as to the material from which the tank T is to-.be made as the lsame can be producedffrom zinc or any desired material.
Witha relatively high temperature it is a known fact that the ush tank when frequently used will sweat and it will be selfevident from the foregoing that Vwith ymy improved construction the moisture orwater collected from the sweating of the tank T and also through the pipe F will be readily conveyed to the bowl From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a fiush tank constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may ybe assembled and operated and itwill also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing` from the principles and spirit thereof and for this .reason I doA not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
In combination with a Hush tank, a bowl and a iush pipe leading` from the tank to the bowl, a box inclosing the siole an bottorn walls of the tenk and spaced therefrom 'to aord an au' space, a. casing surrounding the Hush pipe and in communication with' theair spaee between the box and tank, and leading to the bowl and engaged therewith, said e ort in communication with the lower pari; ogthe end portionV of the casing engaged owl bein provided with l wtl the bowl and discharging withhin the 10- bow n A n testirnon whereof hereunto ax my signature 1n tie presence oftwo witnesses.
IRVING B. WINTERS,
Witnesses:
