SMOKING-PIPE CLEANER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed December 16, 1914. Serial No. 877,551.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ENOCH C. GUNNAR- SON, a citizen of the United States, and of the United States Navy, at present stationed on the U. S. S. H ancoclc, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Smoking-Pipe Cleaners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to smoking pipe cleaners.
The object of the invention resides in the provision of a smoking pipe cleaner which is adapted to be carried by the pipe in such a way as not to interfere with the use of the pipe and at the same time will be readily accessible when desired.
With the above and other objects in View the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showin the improved pipe cleaner associated wit the bowl of a pipe;
Fig. 2, a perspective view of the holder element detached from the bowl and straightened out, and
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Fig. 3, a perspective view of the cleaning rod elemen Referring to the drawings 10 indicates the bowl of a pipe which may be of any desired construction. Entwined about the bowl is a tubular holder or Scabbard 11 one end of which is closed. The terminals of the holder 11 have secured thereto extensions 12 which are adapted to be engaged in the pipe bowl for the purpose of attaching the holder thereto. This holder 11 may be made ornamental in any suitable manner, same being shown in this instance as representing the body of a snake. The cleaning element proper is shown as comprising a flexible steel wire 13 one end of which terminates in a handle 14 representing a snakes head. The flexibility of the wire 13 is'such that it can be readily inserted in the holder 11, but when removed from said holder will return to the shape shown in Fig. 3.
What is claimed is A holder for pipe cleaners consisting of a flexible tubular Scabbard adapted to be entwined about the bowl of a smoking pipe, said scabbard being provided at its ends with integral sharpened projections designed to be forced into the bowl of the pipe to secure the scabbard applied to the latter.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
