SACK-HOLDER.-

To all whom it may concern: Y

'Be it known that I, GEORGE SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Blairs-- ville, in the county of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sack-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention has relation to bag holders and particularly to foldable bag holders. I v

The primary object of the present invention resides in the production of a device of the above stated character which is simple, durable in use and may be suspended from a suitable wall or support and primarily adapted to retain and hold the mouth of a bag in an open position to enable the bag being readily and conveniently filled.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a device of the above stated character wherein one of the strands forming the bag holder is bent to provide a pair of angularly arranged legs, whereby the holder may assume difierent positions with respect to the support.

VViththe above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features, details of construction and combination of parts which will hereinafter be more fully set forth, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawing, in which like characters of reference refer to corresponding parts in the several views, 5 denotes my improved sacl: holder adapted to retain the mouth of the sack A in a distended position, and comprising a substantially rectangular frame 6 constructed of a single strand of wire 7 and bent to provide the frame with spaced parallel longitudinally arranged side members 8 and 9 respectively connected to one another through the medium of the end portions 10. These legs are of a substantially U-shaped form and the leg 12 is arranged at right angles with respect to the leg 13, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and the legs are separated from one another through the a medium of a straight longitudinally arranged pintle 1 L The opposite longitudinal strand designated by thecharacter 9 has formed adjacent its opposite corners suitable indented or offset tion 15 of the frame, prevents the hooks from moving longitudinally of the frame and thereby retains the hooks properly spaced at all times to facilitate a quick application of the sack A to the frame and further assuring the mouth of the bag being held in an open extended position at all times.

The manner of connecting the frame to the support B permits of a longitudinal sliding movement of the frame, hence when it is desired to swing the frame to an open horizontal position the frame is moved to release the curved connecting portion 17 of the leg 12 from disengagement with the bearing eyes 11. This position will move the trunnion 14 within the bearing eyes, whereupon the leg 12 will contact with the wall or support A and hold the frame in a horizontal extended or open position. It is obvious that when the frame is lowered, the latter is moved in an opposite direction, throwing the curved connecting portion 17 of the leg 12 within the bearing eyes 11 and allows the frame to be swung in a downward or closed position. The specific arrangement of the legs 12 and 18 with respect to one another will accommodate the frame in supporting sacks of various lengths, that is to say, when a long sack is used, the frame is slid longitudinally through the bearing eyes to engage the curved connecting portion 18 of the leg 13, whereby the frame may be swung in an upward vertical position and against the support A; whereas upon suspending a sack of lesser length from the frame, the frame is moved in an opposite direction to engage the pintlc let in the hearing eyes, hence supporting the frame in a horizontal position.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the advantages of construction and the method of operation will be readily appar- V ent to those skilled in the art to Which the invention relates, and While I have described the principles of operation of the invention, together with the device which I IlOWiCOllsider to be the best embodiment thereof, I desire to'have it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative and that such changes may be made When desired as are within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention, What is claimed is:

1. A device of the character set forth, a rectangular frame including spaced parallel longitudinally arranged strands, bearing eyes receiving one of said strands for hinglatter mentioned strand of the frame being bent to provide spaced legs arranged at right angles With respect to one another, one of said legs adapted to support the frame in a horizontal open position, the other of said legs permitting the frame being raised to assume a vertical position, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

A device of the character set forth comprising a frame constructed from a single strand of Wire, bearing eyes for hinged-1y connecting the frame to a support, a pair of spaced legs formed adjacent the opposite ends of the frame, and a trunnion connecting the legs With one another to permit of a sliding movement of the frame in said bearings to alternately engage the legs in said bearings to permit of the frame sup porting bags of various lengths. V
