Be it known that l, LEAMAN A. MAIDEN,

. a citizen of the United States, residing at Newberry, in the county of Alachua and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottles7 of which the following is a specification.

' This invention relates to bottles and like liquid containers and has as one of its objects to provide a container of this general type embodying means for housing one or more drinking cups in such manner as to maintain the cups in sanitary condition, although the container itself may be packed with other articles.

The invention also aims to provide a container with means whereby a spoon or similar article may be held assembled or packed therewith and in a manner to be protected.

In the drawings the numeral 1 indicates. in general the body of the bottle or other container and 2 the bottom thereof, the bottom being preferably flat, as shown in Fig. 2 0f the drawings. The bottle is provided below its-bottom with a base which is indicated by the numeral 3 and which is preferably flat and circular in outline, they edge or periphery. of the base being rounded as indicated by the numeral 4 and as clearly .shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings.

The base is integrally connected with the bottom 2 by means of web portions 5 which vare cast with thebottleand base and are consequently of the same -material as the said bottle. The webs 5 are here shown as four in number and as extending radially with relation to the vertical axis of the bottle as a whole and these webs at their outer edges terminate flush with the exterior surface of the body of the bottle, and the base 4 is preferably of substantially the same diameter as the bottom 2 ofthe bottle. webs 5 afford between them and the bottom 2 and base 4, pockets or compartments which are indicated by thenumeral 6 and which receive sanitary drinking cups which are of segmental form as clearly shown in Fig. 3. Each of the cups includes two plane side walls 7 and an arcuate wall 8 and the cups are assembled with the bottle by disposing them within the compartments 6 in the manner shown in Figs. 2 and 4 of the drawings, the angular sides of the cups tting within the angle' between the adjacent sides of the webs 5 and the outer surfaces of the walls 8 of the cups being flush with'the outer surface ofthe body of the bottle.

In order to retain the drinking cups within their respective compartments and to reinforce and prevent fracture of the lower portion of the bottle when the same is packed with other articles, and further, in order to exclude dust and dirt from the said cups and thereby maintain the same in sanitary condition, 'a protective housing shell 9 preferably of metal, is slidably fitted upon the plane of the true bottom of the bottle and the connection of the 'shellwith the bottle will be rendered more rigid` than would be the case if. the upper end of the shell terminated at or close to the upper sides of the compartments. Furthermore, in this manner fracture of the webs 5 is effectually prevented. The shell may be bodily removed from the body and thoroughly cleaned whenever desired and in order that the shell when fitted to the@ bottle may be held firmly inplace and against accidental upward slipping upon the body of the bottle, the said shell vis provided at its lower end with a number of resilient fingers 10 which are delsiilgned to grip the convex or rounded edge 4 o th e base 3 in the manner clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings and for the purpose stated.
