Application September 18, 1943, Serial No. 503,010
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in toilet dishes, and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a combination device of this character which is adapted to hold a supply of powder, a pufi and removable bottles of nail polish, polish remover, perfume or other preparations.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide a combination toilet dish of the aforementioned character which includes no metal parts, the device being molded of glass or other suitable plastics.
Still another important object of the invention is to provide a combination toilet dish of the character described, which, when closed, will provide complete protection for the contents. I
Other objects of the invention are to provide a combination toilet dish of the character set forth which will be comparatively simple in construction, durable, sanitary, attractive in appearance, and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing,'and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification,
taken in connection with the accompanying draw:
ings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation of a toilet dish constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the device.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the device with the cover removed.
Figure 4 is a view in vertical longitudinal section, taken substantially on the line 44 of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view, taken substantially on the line 55 of Figure ,2.
Figure 6. is. a perspective View of one of theremovable bottles.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises an el0n-.
gated container which is designated generally by reference numeral I, said container being subthe partition 3. The pockets 6 accommodate restantially oval in plan. The container I is of molded glass or any other suitable plastic.
The container I includes anelevated bottom 2. Traversing the container I is a partition 3 of the shape shown to advantage in Figure 3 of the drawings. The construction and arrangement is such as to provide circular compartments 4 and 5 for the reception of powder and a puif.
movable bottles I (see Fig. 6), which bottles may contain various toilet preparations. The caps 8 of the bottles I project above the top of .the container I to facilitate removal of said bottles from the pockets 6.
The marginal portion of the top of the container I is rabbeted in a manner toprovide a downwardly offset or dropped seat 9. The seat 9 receives the downturned marginal portion I0 of a cover II for the container I. The cover II comprises a centrally located depression or concavity I2 having formed therein a longitudinally extending handle 13, whereby said cover may be conveniently lifted.
It will thus be seen that a combination toilet dish has been provided which is entirely of plastic and which is adapted to receive and protect an ample supply of powder, a puff in addition to diiferent liquid toilet preparations. Of course, jars of cream, et cetera, may also be placed in the pockets 6; if' desired. It will be observed that the bottles I conform to the shape of the pockets 4 v 6. Removal of the cover II exposes for use all of the contents of the container I. The dropped seat 9 prevents the cover I I from slipping or sliding off the container I. This construction also substantially seals the container. v
It is believed that the many advantages of a combination toilet dish constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
A toilet dish comprising a solid block which is relatively thick and of uniform thickness verti cally and of'oval form 'in plan, said block having a shallow recess of uniform depth in the bottom thereof forming a continuous marginal bottom flange of uniform thickness, similar relatively deep cylindrical recesses being formed in the end portions of the block so as to define a transverse partition therebetween whose ends increase in width outwardly, the ends of said partition having similar relatively deep recesses therein of substantially trapezoidal form in plan and with their narrowsides innermost, said cylindrical and trapezoidal recesses opening through the top of the block and terminating at their bottoms slightly above the bottom recess.
