To all 'wh-0m t may concern Be it known that I, Ti-roMAsC. CANDLISH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented an improvement in Pin-Tickets, of which the following description, vin connection with the accom-- panying drawing, is a specification, like characters on the drawing representing like parts;

This invention has for its object the production of a convenient and useful pin ticket for marking fabrics, garments and the like with the price, lot numbers, sizel or such other information as may be desired,which can be easily applied and removed, the ticket being so constructed that when applied there will be no projecting points to prick the fingers or snag other merchandise.

My impro-ved ticket consists of a blank which may be made from metal or paper of sufficient sti'ness and resiliency anda pin secured to one end thereof and extending longitudinally of the ticket. The opposite end of the blank is bent to form a protecting Hap, a hole being provided thereinthrough which the point of the pin may extend when the ticket is applied. This flap is so constructed that when the ticket is applied the pin will' extend through and beyond the hole and be concealed and protected between the flap and the body of the ticket and the end of the flap with the goods will be posi# tioned between the pin and the body of the blank to be frictionally retained in this position.

For general use in marking merchandise T prefer to make this ticket of stiff paper or card board. When made of fiexible metal y my improved ticket is adapted to be used for marking goods for laundrying, dyeing and similar operations.

The novel features of my invention will be fully disclosed in the following specification and accompanying drawing, and will be particularly pointed ont in the claims. v

The pin isof a length to pass through the hole 5 and engage the under side of the flap' beyond the hole so as to be concealed and protected-between the flapuand, the body of the card. Tt is vessen- "tial'that the yflapshould bef'longitudirially flexible so that the end of the flap may be bent inwardly toward thebody of theticket and passed forwardly between the pin and 'the'body as the flap is folded over tok protect the point of thel pin. To produce this `flexibility T prefer to score the flap as indicatedat 6 and 7 in Fig. l. The score indicated at 6 is essential and is preferably positioned near the inner edgel of vthe` hole, The score indicated at 7 may be omitted, and in Fig. 2 I have illustrated a card in which this .scorek is omitted. The hole is shown as ,long and narrow. T prefer this shape be# vcause the fabric lying between the pin andA "card at this point will assist in. holding the flap'in position.4 This, hole mayphowever, `b emadeof any desired shape solong as the pin passes through the hole in such a manner that the end of ther flap lies between the pin and the body of the card.4

To apply my ticket to al fabric the pin is passed through the fabric and out again so that a loop of fabric is retained between the pin'and body of the card. The flap is then bent and the'end passed between the card and the pin, as illustratedk in Fig. 4.

The bending of the flap at the score 3 is continued, thereby .moving the end of the flap forwardly between the pin and the body of the card, as indicated in Fig; 5,iuntil the flap` is substantially parallel to the body of the card. The loop of fabric may then'be drawn toward the point of the pin so that of the flap may be positioned together with.

the goods and the end of the flap will be clamped between the pin and the body of the card, and the end of the pin will bear against the under side of and be retained in position by the iiap, all as indicated in Fig. 3. As will be seen, the ticket becomes a protection for the ypin and acts as4 an efficient means tcconceal and protect the point. There are thus no projecting points to prick the fingers or snag other` merchandise, while at the Sametime the tag is so constructed .that it may be readily applied to fabrics or similar goods and is readily removed when desired.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: v Y v l. A pin ticket comprising a blank and a pin secured to one end thereof and extending longitudinally of the blank, the opposite end of the blank being folded to form a protecting flap, said flap being longitudinally iiexible and provided with a hole to receive the point of said pin, the pin being of a length to extend through said hole and arranged to extend toward thefolded ends of the blank and engage the underside of said flap beyond the hole, whereby a portion the goods between the pin and the bodyof the blank and frictionally retained inY this position, and the point of the pin may be positioned beyond the hole and between the flap and the body of the blank.

A pin ticket comprising a blank anda pin secured to one end thereof, the opposite end being bent to form a protecting iiap, said flap being flexible and provided with a hole to receive the point of said pinand so arranged that when the ticket is applied to merchandise one end of the iiap Willrlie between the body of the blank and the goods and the pin will extend over the edge of the flap and through the hole and engagethe underside of said flap beyond the hole.,

3. A pin ticket comprising a blank and a pin secured to one end thereof and extending parallel to the body of the blank, the

. opposite end of the blank being transversely scored to'provide a longitudinally flexible flap, said flap having a hole therethrough to receive the point of the pin, the parts being i so constructed and arranged that by bending the flap the end of the flap may be passed between the pin and the body of the blank and the point of the pin inserted through the hole, and between the flap and the body of the blank.

4. A pin ticket comprising a blank and a pin secured to one end thereof and extending parallel to the body of the blank, the opposite end of the blank being folded to form a. protecting flap, said flap having a hole therethrough and being transversely scored near the inner edge of said hole to` provide longitudinal flexibility whereby the flap may be bent and the end passed between the pin `and the body of the blank, and the end of the pin passed through the hole and between the flap and body of the blank, the pin being of a llength to engage the under side of said fiap beyond the hole.

5f, pin ticket comprising a card having a protect-ing flap extending parallel thereto anda pin secured to the card and extending parallel to the card and toward said protecting flap, said flap being transversely scored to provide longitudinal flexibility and being provided with a hole to receive the point of said pin, whereby the end of the flap may be passed between ,the pin ,and body of the flap and the pin passed through said hole and between the flap and body of the blank, said pin being of a length to engage the underside of said flap beyond the hole.

A pin ticket comprising a card and a pin secured to one end thereof and extending parallel to the body of the card, the opposite end of the card being folded to form a protecting flap, said flap having a hole therethrough and being transversely scored near the inner and outer edges of said hole to vprovide longitudinal flexibility, whereby the flap may be bent and the end passed between the pin and the body of the card `and the end of the pin may be passed `through the hole and between the ap and irnos. c. caNDLis'H.
