BACON S. [PRICE], OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. I
COMBINED -HAT AND COAT RACK.-
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 10, 1914. Serial No. 817,884. i
To all whom it may concern Be-it known that I, Bacon S. Tnron, a
, citizen of the United States, residing at Corpus: Christi, in the county of Nueces and State of.Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements-in Combined Hat and Coat Racks, of which the following is a specification.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a combined hat and coat rack of simple construction, wherein a hat holder is supported by two garment hooks in such a way as to form a compact structure, easily mounted on a wall or other support.
With this and other objects in view, the invention consists of the construction and arrangement of parts illustrated in the-accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the rack, and Fig. 2 is a plan view of amodification.
- Referring specifically to the drawing, each of the garment hooks 5 is formed from a strip of metal, bent intermediate its ends to form two vertically spaced arms 6 and 7, respectively. The arms are curved upwardly and their inner ends are bent in opposite direction, substantially at right angles to the'arms, asindicated at 8 and 9. The bent portions are provided with holes and are secured to a wall or other support by screws or other fastening means 10.
Two hooksare provided, and a hat holder is located between the hooks and supported by them. The hat holder, which is preferably made of heavy wire, is curved at its middle portion to form a loop 11 adapted to posite directions, as indicated at 12, a dis tance sufficient to accommodate the rim of a hat, and then downwardly as shown at 13. The arms 6 and 7 of the hooks are provided with a pair of vertically alined perforations 14, through which the vertical portions 13 of the hat holder extend. The arms 6 and 7 of the hooks are vertically spaced from each other, which makes the hooks stronger and enables them to hold the portions 13 of the hat holder more securely in a vertical position.
Patented Nov. 10,1914.
A hat is placed inthe holder so that the;
crown rests in the loop 11, and the rim lies flat against the wall, between the wall and and each pair of hooks carries a hat holder between them- The intermediate hooks are provided with two pairs ofperforations 14: in order to accommodate the adjacentends of two hat holders.
I claim:
1. A, combined hat and coat rack comprising hook members provided with vertical apertures, and a U-s'haped holder having outwardly and downwardly extending extremities, the downwardly extending portions passing through the apertures in the hook members.
2. In a combined hat and coat holder, hook members having vertically spaced arms connected at their outer ends, said arms having vertically alined apertures, and a hat holder located between the hooks, the hat holder comprising a downwardly extending U-shaped member having outwardly and downwardly extending extremities, the downwardly extending portions passing through the apertures in the hook members.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signa- Copies of this patent may be obtained for fiveoents each, by addressing the Commissioners! Iatents.
