NEGKTIE-I-IOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 16, 1914-.
Application filed May 26, 1913. Serial No. 769,964.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MANUEL RosnNrmLD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Denver, in the county of Denver and State of Colorado, of the United States of America, have made a new and useful Improvement in Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to necktie holders of that character which are secured over a collar button and provided with means whereby to engage a tie and prevent the same from shifting to either side or above its intended position, my object being to provide a holder with improved tie engaging means whereby the tie may be more effectively held and more readily released than is possible with the holders now in use.
Further objects, and the advantages arising therefrom, will be apparent from the following description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Figure 1 is a vertical section through my improved holder and illustrating its practical application. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of my improved holder. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation thereof, with the pins locked, and Fig. lis a similar view with the pins unlocked.
Referring now to these figures, the body A of my improved holder tapers slightly toward its lower rounded end a, its upper enlarged end being provided with an upper offset extension at and laterally extending shoulders a projecting from the offset of. The offset a and the extension at are provided with an upwardly tapering slot a adapted for engagement over a collar button in the manner plainly shown in Fig. 1, and the body A is provided with upper and lower apertures through which loosely extend the tie-engaging pins B and B respectively.
Each of the pins B and B is provided with a sharpened point bent angularly so as to extend substantially parallel with, and spaced above, the body A of the holder, and
each of these pins is provided with a head I) at its lower end, against the under surface of the body and having a shallow transverse groove 5 in its face which is flared at both ends.
Extending longitudinally of the holder body A and secured by rivets or like fastening members 0 intermediate its ends upon the lower surface of said body, is a locking spring C, the reduced free ends 0 of which are adapted to extend into the grooves 7) and prevent rotative displacement of the pins B and B when turned to properly aline the grooves with the spring. It will be noted, however, that, due to the flaring ends of the grooves Z) the pins B and B may oscillate to a limited extent when the spring is engaged therewith.
Thus it will be readily seen that the tie of suitable character may be impaled on the pins B and B when the latter are turned in the same direction, and that by turning one of the pins in a relatively opposite direction, both pins being engaged and held in the manner described by the spring C, the tie will be effectively held.
I claim:
1. A necktie holder comprising a body having an upper button-engaging aperture, upper and lower tie engaging members, each of which consists of an angular pin the shank of which is rotatably mounted through the body below its aperture and provided with a head on the rear face of the body having a transverse groove with flaring ends, and a spring member intermediately secured on the rear face of the body and having reduced face ends adapted to engage within the grooves for the purpose described.
2. A necktie holder comprising a body having a button engaging aperture and having spaced tie engaging members, each of which tie engaging members consists of an angular pin, the shank of which is rotatably mounted through the body and is provided with a slotted head at the rear of the body, and a diately secured upon the rear face of the body and having its ends disposed upon the heads of the tie engaging members and adapted for engagement within their slots to lock the same.
3. A necktie holder comprising a body having an upper ofiset extension provided with a button engaging aperture, tie engaging members having their shanks rotatably mounted through the body at its upper and spring member interme lower ends below the button engaging apersaid tie engaging members for the purpose ture and provided with slotted heads upon described. the rear surface of the body, and a spring MANUEL ROSENFIELD. member intermediately secured upon the Vitnesses:
FRANK COHEN,
5 rear surface of the body and having its ends 111 engagement wlth the slotted heads of the FRANK PERLYEREIG.
