BUST-PREVENTING- COMPOSITION.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DUMITRU ALBU, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cleveland, county of Cuyahoga, and State of Ohiofhave invented a new an Improvement in Rust-Preventing Compositions, of which the following is a specification, the principle of the invention being herein explained and the bestmode in which I have contemplated applying that principle, so as to distinguish it from other inventions. I
The subject of the present invention is a composition of matter for preventing rust in metal. This composition when dissolved in water, is adapted to receive metal pieces and prevent the same from becoming rusted even after long periods, and 'it also has other uses, serving when dissolved in water and brushed over a metal surface, to so affect the same that it is not liable to rust in the air even when the solution has evaporated from the surface of the metal.
To the accompli hment of the foregoing and related ends, said invention, then, consists of the ingredients hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
The following description sets forth in detail certain ingredients constituting the composition embodying the invention, such combined ingredients constituting, however, but.

tity The formula of the benzaldehyde is sometimes written C H CHO. The precise proportion in which these ingredients are used is not of prime importance,.but preferably I use 15 ounces of borax to of 1 ounce of benzaldehyde, these proportions giving a mixture which entlrely prevents rust when added for example tothe water which contacts metal surfaces.
The uses of the composition are numerous and this composition may be, if desired, suitably mixed up with paints, when it serves the same purpose; as when used alone: namely, to prevent rust on metal surfaces to which the paint is app'lied.-\
Other modes of applying the principle of my invention may be. employed instead of the oneexplained, change being made as regards the process herein disclosed, provided the step orsteps stated by any one of the following claimsbr' the eqfiivalent of such stated step or steps beemployed,
'1 therefore particularly point out and distinctlv claim as my invention 1. A rust preventing composition comprising borax and lessthan one per cent. of 1 benzaldehyde.
2. A rust preventing composition consist ing of 15 parts by. weight-of borax and one eighth of one part of benzaldehyde.
