Description

No Drawing.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CLINTON CURTIS BAKER, 0F OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO THOMAS LY TTON BONSALL, OF OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA.
DETERGENT.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLINTON CURTIS BAKER, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of the city of Cttawa, in the Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Detergents, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in detergents, and the objects of the invention are to provide an inexpensive am readily applied compound which will effectively remove dirt-stains and grime from the hands of the user, and it consists essentially of the improved composition hereinafter described in detail in the accompanying specification.
The composition consists of soap, sawdust, coal-oil or naphtha and a perfume.
The sawdust acts as a vehicle to carry the coal-oil or naphtha which cuts the dirt and. in addition forms an abrasive and gives bulk to the mixture.
In the practice of carrying out the invention I first manufacture the soft soap by adding. for instance. live and one-half pounds of any suitable grease to four gallons of water and one pound of lye. To the resultant quantity of soap I add three pounds of sawdust and one-half pint of Specification of Letters Patent. Patented May 17, 1921.
Application filed July 30, 1919. Serial No. 314,268.
coal-oil or naphtha and one-half ounce of perfume such as rosemary. It will be found that the resultant mixture is an effective cleanser for the purposes described. Instead of sawdust, any suitable form of granulated wood may be used. 7
As many changes could be made in the above construction, and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claim, conl structed without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
A cleanser comprising a soft saponaceous paste. formed from the following ingredients in the proportions stated:
In witness whereof I have hereuntov set my hand.
CLINTON CURTIS BAKER.
