COMBINED TROUSERS-PROTECTOR AND APR-ION.

new and useful Improvements in Combined Trousers-Protectors and Aprons, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in combined aprons and trousers protectors.
The invention has for its object to provide for protecting or reinforcing the trousers, more particularly at the seat, especially for school-boys, draymen, chauffeurs, drivers, office-clerks and those whose occupation compels their sitting upon stools and like seats; also to provide protection for the clothing at the front in additign to affording theaforesaid rotection.
A urther object is to provide for carrying out the above named ends in a simple, inexpensive and effective manner, and with fa-' cility.
The invention consists therefore of facilities applicable for use in front of the clothing and to the seat, substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed and defined by the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing is illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention, wherein it will be understood that various changes and modifications may be made as to the detailed construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the scope of the claim, and in which drawm s:-
igure 1 is a perspective view of a figure of a man, with my invention shown applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a detached plan. view of a the device spread out or in extended position. Fig.- 3 is a detached perspective view of the device as when buttoned and as in the position it partially assumes when worn.
In making the seat protecting member 1, at I suitably cut or form the same from suitable material, which may be leather, corduroy, cloth or rubber, the use of which is preferably for wear and accordingly for protec: tion or reinforcing purposes. The blank or w resultant 1, as produced from so cutting the named material assumes the form as disclosed by Fig. 2, the same being of generally rectangular outline with its bottom edge produced upon an approximately V-shaped M contour, as at 2, the apex or taper thereof being in the longitudinal center of the blank,

as at 3, which said blank is bodily folded in said longitudinal center from a point quite close to the taper or apex 3, upwardly clear to, and carrying slightly downwardly and centrally the upper edge or end of the blank, as at 4. Said upper edge or end of said blank terminates at one edge in lateral strapllke extension 5, having a button-hole or eye 6 therein, the purpose of which, as disclosed by Fig. 1, is to efl'ect the holding the device at that point upon the wearer. The blank 1 has its lower portion provided at its lateral edges, with lateral tabs 8, these all bemg equipped with hooks, glove-fasteners or buttons 9 at their outer ends, the purpose of which will be apparent later. An additional or auxiliary piece or member 11 with a tapered crotch-reinforcing portion 12 attached or sewed to the upper end thereof and to the blank 1 at the point 3 as clearly seen in Figs. 2 and 3, is provided with a plurality of strap-like extensions 13, all of which are provided with button-holes or eyes 14 which are adapted for engagement with the buttons, hooks or other fastenings of the tabs of the body 1, as said tabs are brought from between the legs around to the front of the legs of the wearer, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3. The protector is thus adapted to be applied or fitted over the trousers to reinforce or protect, particularly the seat, and accordingly guard against undue or premature Wear that point as is apparent, while said protector may be equipped with a pneumatic or resilient cushion in the seat-portion, or it may be devoid of such a cushion, as may be desired.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 I suitably cut or form from like material as above indicated, the apron 15, with its upper narrowend portion 16, which has attached thereto a loop-forming member or strap 17 for passing around the neck, adapted to extend in the upper right-hand corner edge of the portion 18. Adjacent to the button 7 of the member 1 is an additional button 7, on the latter member, arranged to be received or engaged by a button-hole 6 in the strap like extension 5 of the member 1, his arrangement, it will be seen, providing for the attachment of the apron to the seat-protecting member. It is apparent that by suitably manipulating the above referred to buttons with respect to the requisite button hole or holes the apron may be partially detached or Wholly detached.
It is thought that it has been made fully apparent that the use of the device or protector in the various relations or capacities recited in the syllabus or introductory clause to the specification proper has been clearly disclosed by the foregoing description taken LIWJEQ
