The top plate 11 may be also held in position on the top of the bottom portion of the burner by means of projecting lugs 14, upon its outer edge, which position the same from the flange 4 at the outer edge of the base portion of the burner, and also a centering lugl which projects fromv said flange, and coacts with a recess 16 formed in the outer surface of said plate. In addition to these 4means the top plate if desired is secured and firmly held in position by means of bolts 0r rivets 17 which project downwardly through the top of said plate and are firmly secured to the bottom of the body portion 3 of the burner.
The central portion of the top plate 11 is surrounded by an oval shaped upwardly projecting flange or rib 18 which is oval shaped, and has adjacent its opposite curved "ends pairs of supporting standards 19 and 20, the standard 20 being disposed adjacent the inlet end of the burner and the standard 19 at its opposite end. These standards have their upper surfaces notched as shown at 21 to receive therein a generating coil 22, which is held thereby in spaced relation above the top of the burner. The coil 22 is firmly and securely held in position on the standards 19 and 20 by meansl of locking members 23, with notched lower faces, that are adapted to be positioned across the topof said coil above the standards 19 and 20 and will hold the same in position as clearly shown in the drawings.
The burner is provided adjacent its inlet end with a cross pipe 24, which has at the ends of the same a pair of needle valves 25 and 26. The pipe 24- has disposed intermediate its ends an inlet which is adapted to receive the oil that provides the fuel for this burner under pressure. Projecting from the end of the pipe 24 controlled by the needle valve 25 is one end of a coil 22, the said coil extending as has been hereinbefore described, around the top of the burner and spaced above the same, and then back and downwardly as shown at 28, until it terminates in a nozzle 29 controlled by a valve 30 that is disposed adjacent the aperture 7 in the inlet porton of the burner. Projecting from the opposite end of the pipe 24, that is the end controlled by the needle valve 26 is a section of pipe 31, that extends forwardly and upwardlyand has its opposite end terminating above the central portion of the top plate 11. This central top plate 11 is adapted to form a basin owing to the fact that the same `is inclosed by the oval shaped rib 18, which encircles said section.
The operation of this burner is comparatively simple. Oil -under pressure enters the inlet 27 ofthe pipe 24, and when it is desired to start the burner, the needle valve 26 is opened-whereby a certain quantity of oil willbe forced through the pipe 31, into f' the other form of'n my invention.

This oil is ignited, so that the same will in the course of a few moments heat the coil 22 disposed above the same to the required temperature to vaporize any oil that passes through the same. When the coil 22 is heated the needle through the burner as'has been heretofore described and out through the spaces that are formed between the vertical tubes 8 and the depending flanges 13. The vapor at the outer edge of these spaces is ignited, and owing to the fact that the same mingles at said burner point with the air that comes upwardly through the vertically disposed air tubes a perfect combustion will be formed which produces a blue blast flame of the required intense heat without any smoke or odor.
From the above description the operation of this burner will be easily understood, and it will be seen that by the application of the same, oil under pressure may be easily vaporized, then forced into the burner proper, carrying a certain amount of air with the same at said point and then circulating upwardly through said burner and having at the burner points means for mixing the same with air in an easy, simple and efficient manner. This burner, owing to its simplicity of construction, may be easily and simply made, and furthermore the same may be controlledupon operation of the valves to regulate the same. The burner is especially adapted to be placed in cook stoves, ranges, heating stoves or furnaces where wood or coal has been used.

The type of burner shown in these two figures is circular in plan view, having a base portion 35 with an inlet 36 at its bottom, and an upwardly projecting flange 37 around its outer edge. This form of the burner is also provided with a plurality of vertically disposed air tubes 38, having longitudinally extending ribs 39 similar to the .type of tube and rib show'ihin 1s burner is also provided with a circular top Vplate 40, which has a series of apertures 41,
with depending annular flanges 42 surrounding the vertically disposed air tubes 38 and spaoedtherefrom, in a manner fully shown and described in the other form of my invention. This type ofburner operates substantially the saine as the one heretofore described, the fuel entering through the inlet 36 and passing upwardly through the space that is formed between the air tube and flanges, whereby the same may mix with air that comes upwardly through the said tubes to make a perfect combustion and a blue blast flame as has been hereinbefore described.
From the foregoing description the con struction or roy improved device, the Inanner of applying the same to use, and the operation thereof Vmay be readily understood and it will be seen that I have provided a simple, inexpensive and efficient means for carrying out the objects of the invention.

A device of the class described comprising a burner body having an inlet in its bottom portion, a series of vertically disposed air tubes extending` upwardly through said burner body, longitudinally extending spaced ribs on the outer surface of said tubes, said ribs having their outer edges inclined downwardly and outwardly, and a top plate havinga series of apertures with depending annular flanges surrounding said air tubes and adaptedfor engagement with the inclined edges of the ribs whereby the plate is removably supported and the flanges are spaced from the tubes so that the gas may ilow therebetween and mix with the air at the ends of said tubes. A burner formed of a casting having a series of vertically disposed air tubes eX- tending upwardly therefrom adjacent its outer edge, a flange on said edge, an inlet in the bottom of the casting, longitudinally extending ribs on said tubes, a top plate with a series of openings adjacent its edge larger than the ends ol. said tubes, depending flanges on. the same surrounding said tubes, and an upwardly projecting rib surrounding the central portion of said topV plate.
8. A burner formed of a casting having a series of vertically disposed air tubes eX- tending upwardly therethrough adjacent its outer edge, an integral support for said casting, an upwardly projecting flange on said outer edge, having its extremity disposed in'the same horizontal plane with the horizontal plane of the upper edge of said tubes, a centrally disposed depending enlarged inlet in the bottom of said casting, longitudinally extending inclined ribs on the outer surface of said tubes, a top plate correspondingly shaped to the top of said casting, having a series of openings therethrough adjacent its outer edge slightly larger than the upper ends of said tube and surrounding the same, depending annular flanges troni said openings surrounding said tubes, and spaced therefrom by the inclined annular ribs, an upwardly projecting rib surrounding the central portion of said top plate, standards projecting upwardly therelfrom, and a generator coil supported above the burner by said standards,
