Description

ALFONZO DAPICE, OF CHICAGO HEIGHTS, ILLINOIS.
BEDCLOTHES-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 2, 1915. Serial No. 5,731.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Anroxzo DAPIGE, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at Chicago Heights, in the county of Cook, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bedclothes- Holders; and i do hereby declare the following to be a lull, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in clamps, and particularly to clamps for holding the edges of bed clothes.
One object of the invention is to provide a simple and cheap device which can be quickly and easily attached to the side rails of a bed and which will grip the side edges of the bed clothes and hold the same firmly in position.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing. 7
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention applied to a bed. Fig. 2 is an end view of the device, the bed being shown in section. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the clamping devices removed from one side of the bed.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents a plurality of vertical members, the lower ends of which carry the screw clamps 11 which are engaged with the side rail 12 of the bed. Pivotally connected to the intermediate portion or its equivalent of each of the members 10 is an upwardl extending member 13, a spring 14 being connected at its opposite ends to the member 10 and to the member 13;
Two longitudinally extending and parallel bars 15 and 16 are secured respect'vely to the upper ends of the members 10 and 13, thus forming the jaws between which the edges of the bed clothes 17 are clamped. From the foregoing it will thus be seen that I have provided a simple and cheap device of this character which can be readily applied to the side rails of the ordinary bed clothing. This device is particularly adapted for use on childrens beds to prevent them kicking ofi the covers and also to prevent the covers being wrinkled by the occu pant-of the bed.
Particular attention is called to the fact that there are a plurality of uprights connected by a bar and a plurality of movablemembers also connected by a bar, the inner one of .which willremain stationarv while the outer one is swung outwardly so as to clamp the edge ofthe clothes between it and the stationary member.
lVhile I have shown the members 10 and 15 as separate elements, and the members 13 and 16 as separate elements, it Wlll be understood that I may make these parts integrally without departing from the spirit of the invention or scope of the claims.
What is claimed is:
1. A bed clothes holder comprising a plurality of stationary members adapted to be detachably connected to the bed rails, a plurality of movable members, longitudi nally extending bars secured respectively to the upper ends of said movable and stationary members and springs disposed between the stationary and movable members for tensioning the last mentioned members and theirlongitudinally extending bar toward the other of said members and their bar.
2. A bed clothes holder comprising a plurality of vertical members, bed rail engaging clamps carried by the lower ends of the vertical members, upwardly extending 1 members pivo-tally mounted on the said vertical members, longitudinally extending bars secured to the upper'ends of the vertical and upwardly extending springs disposed between the said members for tensioningone of the longitudinally extending bars in the direction of the other 'ALrouzo DAPICE.
