To all whom z't may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM FAERBER, a resident ofv Chicago, in Cook county, State of Illinois, have invented certain new/and useful I mprovements in Apparatus for Shampoolng Ladies the-following description of my said invention, t-aken 1n connection with the accompanying sheet of drawings, forms afull, clear, and exact specification, which lwill enable others skilled in the art to which said same.
4This invention has general reference Ato improvements inl an apparatus for use in establishments for shampooing and washlng ladies hair n situ; and it consists, essentially, in the novel and peculiar combination of parts and details of" construction, as hereinafter first fully set forth and described, and then pointed out in the claim. c In the drawings already mentioned, in which this invention is fully and clearly illustrated, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the complete apparatus. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, like parts being designated by the same characters and symbols of reference in both figures.
The object of this invention is the production of an eiiicient, serviceable and very convenient apparatus which is especially designed for use in ladies hair dressing establishments for washing and shampooing ladies hair.
This invention, therefore, includes a portable or movable couch or other similar furniture A, upon which a'lady may take a reclini'n position, said couch being so placed that t e ladys head may rest upon a cushion, lhereinafter to rbe particularly described.
B, designates, as a whole, a cabinet which is open at its forward end, said cabinet including a wall-section C, and two wings, or sections D, Da, `hinged to the wall section in any convenient manner. These two wings are framed structures one side of which is provided with a mirror 12, while at the rear thereof there are provided a series of shelves 13, supported in a substantial manner on brackets 14, said shelves being constructed brushes, and other paraphernalia may soap, combs,
be within easy reach of the n be placed to I-Iair;y and I do hereby declare that h perator .when performing his or her task attending to the ladys hair. In front of O the wall section C there is located 'a basin E,
said basin having a long, sloping, forward wall 15, on which the ladys .hair may be spread when being operatedon, said basin avmg a waste pipe 16, by. which water is discharged from said basin. At the upper' end of the wall section C there is a for` wardly extending canopy F, to which a three-way faucet 17, is attached, there being a hot, and a cold, water pipe,.18, 19, re'
faucet, whereby spectively, connected to this either hot, tempered, or cold water maybe drawn from said faucet, as occasion may requlre. In the forward margln or 11p of p the basln there 1s an exclslon or cut-out 20,
vand in this cutout there is aixed a, preferably rubber, cushion which cushion may be of the pneumatic type so as to be absolutely sanitary. 'Upon this cushion a lady v will rest `her head so that her` tresses may be spread upon the long, sloping, front portion of said basin, where they will be operated on by an attendant, and nally rinsed by water passing from the three-way faucet 17 through a suitablehose 21, and a rose-nozzle or sprinkler 22, connected to said faucet.
During the time that water is being used on the ladyvs hair the two side wings or hinged sections D, Da, are so located as to occupy a position at the sides of the basin E2, which prevents water from being splashed over the Hoor on which this apparatus is mounted, while when the wings are swung to Athe position vshown in Fig. 2, the shelves at the `back of the wings and the articles thereon, are hidden from view.
I 'prefer to cover the forward surface or face of the wallsection C .with sheet metal facing 23, the body of said wall section being usually of wood, which will make this apparatus perfectly sanitary; and in order to enhance the appearance thereof, I may employ highly polished and nickel, or sil.- ver-plated sheet metal for this facing 23. I may also, if desired, surround the pedestal 24, of thebaspin E with a sheet metal jacket 25, of the same facing of the wall. section.
An apparatus of the construction described 1s ver complete, compact, and well adapted for t e purpose for which it is'designed.
Having thus fully described this' invenquality of sheet metal as the' 105- tion, I cl Letters Paten An apparatus for prising, 1n combination, wings h tion at the forward margin thereof, a basin in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
