.. i y SEGURINGDEVICE Ifron 'oominnonrraonss' th all ,whom it may concern:
Be 1t known that l, HERMAN 0. Sermonnun, a citizenof the United States, residing at Elkhorn, in the county ot Douglas, State of- Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful lImprovements in Securing Devices for Coin-Receptacles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in coin receptacle supports for 'rural free delivery boxes, and more especially'to means for removably securing such supports to the boxes, and the object of my invention is to provide a suitably constructed device by which the support may be readily secured to the box. And a further object is to provide a securing means whichA is removably secured to the box, and .to which, the coin receptacle support may be removably secured.
llVith these and other objects in View, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and specifically pointed out in the claims, and in the drawings illustrative ot' the preferred embodiment ot my invention.
In the accompanying 'drawings in which 1 similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout, Figure 1 is a sectional view of a mail box having a coin receptacle support secured therein by'V means ot my improved device. Fig. 9. is a rea-r elevation of the coin receptacle support. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation ot the same with my securing; device applied thereto. Fig. 4
is a vert-ical sectiomthrough the line 4-4' of Fig. 3. Fig. A5 is a front elevation of my securingrv means. Fig. (l is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 7 is a. rear elevation of a slightly modified form ot support and securing means. Fig'. 8 is a still further modified form'otl securing means.
This improved device is particularly intended for use with the form of coin receptacle support descrihedin my previous application, and bearing the Serial #507,922, butl do not wish to limit its use to any particular torni of receptacle and it may be used in any place in whieh a securing.r device ot this type is required.
Referring more specifically to .the drawings 1 designates in general a mail box ot ythe usual or any preterred'type, 2 the coin receptacle support and 3 my improved vse'- curing meansi" As best shown in Figs. l and 2 the coin Areceptacle support has its central back portion bent outwardly and is provided upon either side of thisbent portion wit-h the slots i While the central p0rtion ot the back is provided with the relatively widc slot 5 which is inalinement with Speci'catio'n-of Letters Patenti. Patented Dial. 26, 1912. l Application 1aed February 11, 1911. seiai N0. 607,959.
that purpose in the wall of the mail box` ,1,
' and the end thereof bent'over thereby securing the support in position.
It will be seen from the above that the support when once secured maybe readily.
disengaged from the securing means When.
ever desired, and itwill further be seen that by providingl slots in the various walls, or in the bottom ofthe mail box, the support together with the securing means may be applied to any part of the box, and by straighteningthe strip 6 the support and securing means may be readily removed from one part of the box and secured to another part.
Figs. 7 and 8 show modified forms of my securing device. in which the coin receptacle support is adapted to be pivotally securedto the head ofthe securing strip, whereby it may be swung to assume any desired position. The securing member shown in Fig. 7
differs from the other forms shown in that itis provided with two extending strips 11 adapted to engage withtwo corresponding slots in the box. y
It willA be understood however that the various forms illustrated and described in this application may be combined in any de slred manner, as for instance the form illusjtrated in Figs. 5 andv 6 may be provided with two 'securing strips similar to those shown in the form illustrated in Fig. 7, Without in any vway departing from the spirit of my involition.
Tt will be seen from the above that I have provided a device economical and simple in construction, by which the securing device may be removably secured to the mail boX, and the coin receptacle support removably secured thereto.
VVh'at I claim is Y 1. In adevice of the character described,
the combination with a support provided .with a slot7 andareceptaole support provided Witlrspaced apart slots formlng loops, of a securingvmember adapted to secure said support :uid eoeptacle support together,
Ysaid member having a tongue adapted to 2. In a device of the character described, the combination with a support and :1 receptacle support provided with spaced apart slots forming loops, of a securing member, said member having :i tongue adapted to pass through the slot and engage With the loops of said receptacle support, and means for detaohubly fastening said securing me1nber to said support.
In testimony whereof, .I affix my signa- 25 ture, in presence of two Witnesses.
