Description

Patented May 12, 1914.
WITNESSES:
AUGUST REININGER, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
ADJUSTABLE MOLDING-STAMP BACK.
1 ,oeasei.
Specification of Letters Patent.
' almnlcd May 1175, .HH-l.
Application filed November 9, 1912. Serial No. 730,416.
To all whom. it may concern.
Be it known that I, AUoUs'r RmNIiNunu, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and usefulv Improvements in Adjustable Molding-Stamp Racks, Of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a mohling stamp rack.
It is the object of this invention to provide a rack for molding or rubber stamps, which is adjustable to adapt it to hold stamps of various widths.
Another object is to provide a stamp rack which is simple in construction, durable and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention primarily resides in a supporting plate having upturned flanges on its sides and ends, serrations or teeth on the inner tacos of the end flanges, and a series of removable partition bars adapted to have their ends inserted in the interstices between the teeth on the end flanges to divide the bearing plate into aseries of compartments.
The invention further consists ot the parts and the construction and combination of parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the invention. Fig. 9. is a view in vertical. section on the line XX of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail in perspective of the end portion of the partition bar. Fig. .l.- is a detail section on the line YY of Fig. 2.
In the drawings A represents a plate having upturned side and end flanges 2 and 3, respectively. Mounted on the inner faces of the end flanges 3 are corrugated plates t, forming serrations or teeth on the inner faces of the end flanges. The space inclosed by the side and end flanges 2 and 3 is designed to be divided into a series of compartments for the reception of molding stamps, for which purpose a series of partition bars 5 is provided. The bars 5 are preferably stamped from sheet metal and are U-shaped in cross section. The bars 5 are of such length as to extend the length of the supporting plate A and have their ends converged to adapt them being inserted between the corrugations on the inner faces of the end flanges 3, as shown in Fig. l. The convergent end portions of the bars 5 are ol such size and shape as to substantinlly fill the space between adjacent teeth on the corrugated plate t and bear against the sides oil? the teeth to securely hold the bar against lateral movement; the material of which the bars are termed allowing the sides of the bar to be compressml slightly at their ends when introduced into the serrated plate, so that the sides of the bar will hen against the sides of the teeth under tension to :lrictionally engage the latter.
l orn'ied on the outer ends of the bars 5, are downwardly turned hooked members (3, as shown in Fig. 3, which are adapted to engage the end flanges 3 to tie the bars thereto and prevent the flanges from spreading. \Vhere the plate A is sulliciently narrow the end bars 5 may be formed without the hooks (i.
From the ;l,oregoing it will be seen that the space inclosed by the flanges 2 and 3 may be divided into as many compartments as may be desired, by means oil the bars 5, and that any width of compartment may be termed as occasion requires; the bars 5 being removable and insertible in such ol the opposed serrations t as desired, to form spaces corresponding to the widths of the molding stamps.
The side flanges 2 are provided with slots 7 which extend the full. length ol the flanges 9. adjacent the bottom or plate A. The purpose of the slots 7 is to admit of such dust and dirt as may collect on the plate A being readily removed by the introduction through the slots 7 oil' a current of air or a suitable wiping instrument. The plate A may thus be kept clean, thereby n'eventing the stamps from becoming clogged by com tact with dust and dirt on the plate A when standing in the rack.
llaving thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patout, is
1. In a molding stamp 'ack the combination with a rectangular -frame having corrugated plates mounted on the inner faces of its ends, oi partition bars Li -shaped in cross section, convergent end portions adapted to extend between the corrugations on the frame to form a stable connection between the ends of the bar and the frame, and downwardly hooked members on the convergent ends of the bar adapted to project over and engage the ends of the frame to tie the bars and frame together and prevent spreading of the frame.
2. In a molding stamp rack, the combination with a rectangular frame having toothed racks mounted on the inner faces of its ends, of a movable partition bar U- shaped in cross section, the vertical side portions of the bar converging toward each other at the terminations of the bar and adapted to be inserted between the teeth of the rack with the outer faces of the convergent portions of the bar bearing against the side faces of adjacent teeth in frictional engagement therewith, the upper portion of the bar extending beyond the convergent end portions thereof and bent downwardly to form a hook member adapted to engage the ends of the frame to prevent the toothed racks being spread out of engagement with the ends of the bar.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
