My invention, while relating in general, has especial reference to means used in connection with pocket tobacco boxes for keeping the contents thereof in a moist condition; and the objects of the invention are to provide a device for such a purpose that is simple in construction, that can readily be inserted or removed from the cover of an ordinary tobacco box and one that will retain its place when the cover is removed and that. will not become dislodged when the box is shaken and is only partly filled with tobacco. I attain these objects y making a device such as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which igure 1 1s a top plan view of a pocket tobacco box with the cover thereof opened and turned back and with the pad holding device having a pad therein inserted in the cover; Fig. 2, at the top, a vertical sectional view of the parts seen in Fig. 1 but with the cover closed and, at the bottom, a side elevation of such parts; Fig. 3, a plan view of the device and pad therein with parts broken away to bring out more clearly features of construction; and Fig. 4, a longitudinal central sectional view of a box and cover with the humidor device therein.

A tobacco box of the ordinary type adapted to be carried in the pocket of the user and having flat sides and rounded ends is shown at B. The'portion of wire extending outwardly from each end of the bead c is formed into a loop P, such loop portions lying in the same plane with each other and substantially parallel with the bottom (1 of the pad holder. The ends of the wire are inserted, from opposite directions, into the ends of the roll 6 and are free to move longitudinally therein. The loop portions P of the wire thus become springs and when the device is placed in the cover C they engage under tension against the rounded end walls of the cover, holding the device securely in position. If desired, depressions, such as seen at c in Fig. 4, may be formed in the end walls of the cover C, adjacent to the top thereof, into which the springs P may engage, thus still further preventing the device from becoming dislodged. Before inserting the humidor device in the cover the pad A is saturated with water, and for this pur ose such pad may be removable from the older D.

It is believed that from the foregoing description of the construction and method of using my humidor device further explanation is unnecessary.

What I claim is:

1. A pocket humidor comprising, in combination with a tobacco box and cover there for, an absorbent pad, a pad holder adapted to lie within said cover and a wire bent to form two loop portions lyin in the same plane and extending outwardly from opposite sidcs of said holder, the central portion of such wire secured to said holder and the ends thereof movable in engaging means carried by said holder, said loop portions forming springs ad. ted to engage against opposite side walls of the box cover.

2. A pocket humidor comprising, in combination with a tobacco box and cover therefor, an absorbent pad, a pad holder adapted to lie within said cover and a wire bent to form two loop portions lyin in the same plane and extenc ing outwardly from opposite sides of said holder, the central portion of such wire secured to one edge of said holder and the ends thereof extended toward each other and longitudinally movable in engagingi means formed along the edge of said hol er opposite said first named edge said loop portions forming springs ada ted to engage a ainst opposite side walls 0 the box cover, a substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.

3. A poc et humidor comprising, in combination with a tobacco box and cover therefor, an absorbent pad, a pad holder adapted to lie within said cover, depressions formed in oppgsite side walls of said cover and a wire at to form two loop portions lying in the same plane and extendm outwardly from opposite sides of said 1101 er, the central portion of such wire secured to one edge of said holder and the ends thereof extended toward each other and longitudinally movable in engaging means formed along the edge of said holder opposite said first named edge, said loop portions forming springs adapted to en age in said depressions substantially as escribed and for the purpose set forth.
