To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, \VILLIAM H. RAMSEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Box-Holder, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a supplemental box for containing a shoe polish box therein whereby the polish will be kept in a moist condition and also will provide means whereby the shoe polish box may be handled without fear of soiling the hands.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings accompanying this specification and forming a part thereof the preferable form of my invention is illustrated, in which Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a supplemental box square in outline with the spacing spring members disposed therein and with the lid moved a distance thereabove. Fig. 2 is a fragmental detail view of a side wall and spring member shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view taken on the line AA of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 illustrates a round supplemental box and a polish containing box disposed therein.

Referring to the drawings in which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 is the supplemental 0r auxiliary box which may be of any desirable shape, Fig. 1 illustrating the same of rectangular contour and Fig. 4 representing one of circular outline. A lid 2 is adapted to frictionally engage the sides of the box 1 and in order that it may effect an air-tight or seal joint therewith, a gasket or washer 3 is disposed within the Specification of Letters Patent.

said lid and is adapted to contact with the upper extremity of the box 1. The gasket or washer 3 is in the nature of a lining, felt being an example of a suitable substance and by the use of the same the polish within the inner box will be maintained in a usable condition and the evaporation of the oil contained therein will be successfully prevented.

As illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the side walls of the box are'bent inward and downward and disposed therebeneath are the ends 4 of the resilient spacing members 5, the said members being substantially An object is to provide a supplemental arcuate in outline and adapted to frictionally and resiliently engage the polish con taining box 6 which is placed within and held central of the supplemental box 1. The resilient spacing members 5 are provided with the ends 4 bent backward and engaging the side walls of the supplemental box 1. Disposed in the supplemental box are two of the said resilient spacing members the same being identical in construction and bent to less than semi-circular form. Disposed beneath the resilient members 5 and the polish containing box 6 is a felt washer or lining 7 which is intended 'to act as a thermal resisting medium so that the substance disposed within the box will not be subject to excessive or rapid changes of temperature. The resilient spacing members shown in Fig. 1 are the same as those shown in Fig. 4, the contour of the circular box forcing the bent ends 4 back upon themselves as illustrated.

In the practical use of my improved device, the lid of a polish containing box is removed and discarded. The body portion of the box is then inserted between the resilient members 5 forcing the same apart and allowing the polish containing box to pass between the said members and to rest upon the felt lining disposed upon the bottom of the auxiliary box. The polish may now be removed from the polish containing box as required without fear of smearing the same upon the hands, as the outer box may be maintained in a clean condition. F urthermore by reason of the felt lining of the lid the evaporation of the polishing material will be prevented and the said material will therefore be prevented from drying up and becoming worthless. Furthermore, by reason of the resilient spacing members, the polish containing box will be held in spaced relation to the various side walls of the auxiliary box with the result that an air chamher will be formed around the side walls of the two boxes with the result that the polish containing box will be protected by the said air chamber as the same has a high thermal resistance. The felt lining disposed between the two boxes and the felt lining disposed in the lid provides that the inner or polish containing box will be protected from any excessive or rapid changes of temperature which may occur external of the boxes.

Having thus fully described the invention what I claim to be new and original with me is:-

1. A blacking box holder comprising a box, arcuate springs disposed in the box and bowed away from each other at their centers to embrace a circular article, the ends of the springs having extensions abutting the sides of the box and the box provided with projections on the sides to confine said spring extensions therein.

2. A blacking box holder comprising a box, arcuate springs disposed in the box opposite each other and bowed away from each other at their centers to embrace an article therebetween, the ends of the springs provided with extensions abutting the sides ofthe box and the side walls of the said box provided with overlapped projections adapted to confine said spring extensions within Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
