Description

Eniaa eine @wat @Elmira WILLIAM H. HENDERSON AND. WALTER s.; Jeune, oE THAHTONS sWrrcH, VIRGINIA.
Letters Patent No. 107 ,257, dated Septcn'tbcr 13, 1870.
IMPRovHn REvoLvING TABLE.V
lLivhe Schedulev referred. to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same 4each-person with -any desired article, and, also, to
keep the iiies away from the dishes, X'c.
It may also be used fora card-table, or any other desirable revolving table, whenever necessary to be so used.
rlhc following is a full, clear, and exact description of our invention,'enabling others skilledA in the art to make and use the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specieation, iu which- Figure 1 represents a bot-torn view ot' table, showing the operating mechanism.
Figure 2 is a vertical crossfscetiou of thc Sallie.
In the drawing- A represents the table, of any desirable dimension, the centervB of which is'the revolving part, and raised vits thickness above the surrounding table A.
A suitable frame-work, C, and legs, I), support the table A, which may be extended to any size by having suitable segments, E, shown in dotted line, fig.'
1, attached to the main part A by dowel pins, or any.A
other 0f the usual ways, or they may be hinged theret0. y
' In the center of B we fasten thejourual F, through which the upright shaft G r passes, being supported in the step H, fastened on the cross-piece I.
' Upon this shaft we arrange the bevel-wheel a, which meshes into the bevel-wheel b, and turns the l1ori.V
zontal shaft c, journaled in suitable bearings, d d'.
Upon this shaft c we arrange the wheel c, having a collar, e', into which the forked lever K, fig. 1, fits, for throwing the wheel-c' iu and out of gear with the large wheel f, fastened to B, and made, by-'preference, in segments.
-On the shaft c we also arrange a spool, g, around which the cord h, gr2, is wound.
'10 the end of said cord h. we fasten a suitable weigl which operates the table. f
To thc upper end 0f the upright shaftGwc arrange thc arms It It, te which the ilags t, or brushes', are attached, for keeping the flies away from the table.
These arms, with the flags, can be raised or lowered upon theshaft G, andare held in place by--the ,set-screw l, fig. 2. .v
To regulate the speed of the center part B. a suit-y able brake may be attached, a spring, nl, is shown -in fig. 1, and under said center B maybe arranged ifriction-rollers, o, fig. 2, if desired. The speedisarrangcd by suitable gearing, iuA such a manner that, while the center Brevolves slowly',` the flags or brushes may 1 revolve fast. In winter these may be detached alto-j gether-,if desirable.' y Attached t0 the lever K is a lug, P, by which the spring a maybe forced against the shaft c, for regulating the speed. u 1
We can attach fans for the purpose or" making abreeze or cooling the 'air as well as keeping eff l the dies.
The'top leaf maybe extendec'hor a larger leaf" in its place..y
The table A may be round, or any number of squares desired. y
Gearing can be arranged so as to run pas long as necessary, by winding once, when used with a spring.
Having thus described our invention, Y'Vhat we claim as our improvement, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is-L In combination with table A, the revolving center B, wheels f e, arrn It, 'horizontal shaft c, spool g, weighted cord h, bevelwheels b a., upright shaft G, arms it h, and daps or brushes i all constructed and arranged as hereindescribed an d for the purpose specf iiied.
