NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES A. W001), a citizen of the United States, residing at Wyncote, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non- Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has relation to a non-refillable bottle having a neck member and a mouth member, which constitutes the elements, respectively, internally arranged with baffling-means and valve-means which conjointly when bonded together by an extraneous sealing band pinched or crimped thereto, provide abottle whereof refilling commercially is rendered practically impossible; and further in which tampering with the sealing band bonding the members together is readily detectable by either separating the members of the bottle or destroying both of the said members thereof; and in such connection my present invention relates more particularly therefore, to the constructive arrangement of such a bottle, for the defined purposes.
The nature, scope and characteristic features of my present invention will be more fully understood from the following descrip tion taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, in which Figure 1, is a vertical central sectional view through so much of a bottle as serves to illustrate the two members thereof and their respective internal arrangement, embodying particular main features of my said invention; and Fig. 2, is a transverse sectional view on the line :z2a2 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings a, represents a broken section of a glass bottle, the neck a of which is formed with an internal annular recess portion (4 for mounting a glass or other sleeve a securely to place therein. This sleeve interiorly is provided with an offset a}, for mounting a flanged obstruction device a therein; the said device having a central opening a, in the arched bottom a, thereof, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. The flange a, of the obstruction device a as shown, is made so as to be separable from the body portion of the same, but it may be arranged so as to be an integral part thereof. The sleeve (4 is also provided with a lug a in one portion, with which a peripheral portion of a flap-valve a engages, and with an Specification of Letters Patent.

annular recess a", for a seat as, of the said flap-valve 0, The said valve is preferably made of mica and in shape or form as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The top of the neck member a is recessed at a and is provided with a fiat surfaced seat or end 0: and exteriorly rounded at a, for a purpose to be hereinafter fully explained.
I), is the mouth member of the bottle in which interiorly is provided a partition Z2 having inclining openings 6 and 6 therein, and which partition as so arranged constitutes the baffling-device of said mouth member. The said partition 6 integrally formed with the mouth member 6, is extended to the outside of the said member and thereat is formed into a flat surfaced seat or end I)", for engaging the seat or end a, of the neck member a therewith, and with a projection 6 for engaging interiorly in the recess a, of the said neck member 64 as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1.
It will be observed that the integral projection if, of the mouth member Z), in normal position bears against the flange a, of the obstruction device a seated and supported by the sleeve (4 as shown in Fig. 1, to thereby prevent in tilting of the bottle any displacement of the said device.
0, is a sealing band made preferably in cross-section, as shown in Fig. 1, to taper toward both ends and to fit notches a and b the terminals of the flanged or jointed exterior rim of the two united members a and Z), in the position for example, as fully shown in Fig. 1.
The sealing band 0, for bonding and pinching 0r crimping by the edge portions of the same, one member with the other, may be provided with a central fiat portion as at 0 for use in designating thereon of what the internal contents of the bottle may be or the name of the producer of the same:
It will be observed that as the two members are arranged in Fig. 1, the baffling-device in conjunction with the obstruction means of the neck member, prevent insertion of an implement in any attempt at tampering with the flap-valve seated beneath the latter means. It will also be observed that itv matters not at what angle the bottle may be caused to assume, commercially it is practically impossible to refill the bottle. It will still further be observed than any tampering with the sealing band with a View to remove the same from about edge portions thereof where crimped or pinched to the notches of said members, will either separate both members or destroy the same, and hence in either instance defeating any purpose of again using the said bottle.
Having thus described the nature and objects of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A non-refillable bottle provided with a two part neck and an inserted sleeve having a valve device held in connection therewith and a flanged dish-shaped perforated obstruction device supported by said sleeve in position and the same prevented from diS- 15 engagement by one of the members of said two part neck and the latter having a per torated partition arranged to deflect the fluid released by said valve device and beyond the obstruction device of said neck, substantially as described.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses hereto.
