BOTTLE-SEALS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 20, 1912.
Application filed September 26, 1910. Serial No. 583,887.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL FRIEDMAN, citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle- Seals, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in bottles and has for its object to provide a bottle which when once sealed cannot again be sealed.
Another object is to provide a bottle which when once unsealed will show that the seal has been removed therefrom.
With the above and other objects in view, I have invented the bottle illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which,
Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved bottle, sealed, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the upper part thereof, and Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of a modified form of the invention.
Referring to the drawings, l is a bottle having a reduced neck 2, integral with the upper portion of which are outwardly extending portions 3 and l which are provided with bores 5 and G.. A flange 7 extends around the neck of the bottle and the extensions 3 and A, and is adapted to act as a seat for a protecting collar 8.
After the bottle has been filled and the stopper inserted, the seals 9 and 10 having right angular supporting posts l1 and 12 are applied, the posts being seated in the openings 5 and G, which are somewhat larger in diameter than the diameter of the post.
A cement is then filled into the intervening space. A cement which cannot be softened after once becoming hard is used for this purpose, hence to open the bottle it will be necessary to break the seals if they are made from porcelain, glass or any other easily breakable material, or to break the extensions holding the seals if they are made from metal.
In Fig. 3 I show a modification of the invention, in which the extensions 13 and 14, have integral posts 15 and 16, to which are cemented the seals 17 and 18. These seals are provided with sockets 19 and 20 which seat on the posts.
I-Iaving described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A non-resealable bottle having a reduced neck, extensions thereon, a pair of seals adapted to seat on the stopper of said bottle, means on said extensions for securing said seals, saidseals having free ends adapted to be broken by twisting same, a ledge extending beyond said extensions and encircling said neck and adapted to seat a protecting member.
2. A non-resealable bottle having a reduced neck, extensions thereon, a pair of seals adapted to seat on the stopper of said bottle, means on said extensions for securing said seals, said seals having free ends adapted to be broken by twisting same, a ledge extending beyond said extensions and encircling said neck and adapted to seat a protecting member, and a protecting member seated thereon.
3. A non-resealable bottle having a reduced neck, extensions thereon, a pair of seals adapted to seat on the stopper of said bottle, means on said extensions for securing said seals, said seals having free ends adpated to be broken by twisting same, a ledge extending beyond said extensions and encircling said neck, adapted to seat a protecting member, a protecting member seated thereon, said seal securing means consisting of breakable posts.
4. A non-resealable bottle having a reduced neck, extensions thereon, a pair of seals adapted to seat on the-stopper of said bottle,'means on said extensionsl for securing said seals, said seals having free ends adapted to be broken by twisting same, a ledge extending beyond said extensions and encircling said neck, and adapted to seat a protecting member, a protecting member seated thereon, said seal securing means consisting of breakable posts, said seals adapted to be fixedly secured to said posts.
In testimony whereof I aix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL FRIEDMAN.
Witnesses:
WILLIAM L. SCHWARTZ, SAMUEL HERZBERG.
