To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, RICHARD and Cnnsrnn R. UMSTEAD, citizens of the United States, residing at Allentown, in the county of Lehigh and State of Pennsyh vania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in idjustable Screen- Frames, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvement in screen frames for windows, the object of the invention being to provide a screen frame which can be adjusted to various heights and widths so that the same can be applied to windows of various sizes.
Another object of the invention is to provide a screen frame of this character which will possess advantages in points of etliciency and durability, is inexpensive to manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and. arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claims, and shown in the accompanying drawings in which,

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the sections of the lower screen frame. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the sections of the upper screen frame.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates our improved screen frame which comprises the upper and lower sec-- tions 2 and 8 respectively, each section comprising the top bar 4-, the bottom bar 5 and The top and bottom bars are each formed of two sections 7 and. 8 and 9 and 10 respectively, while the side bars 6 are formed in av single piece. The side bars 6 in the upper frame 2 are provided with the longitudinal dove tail groove 11 in which are slidably mounted the hmgi tudinal tongues 12 formed on the side bars 6 of the lower section 3, thus it will be seen that the sections may be adjusted to various heights.
The sections 8 and 10 are provided on Specification of Letters Patent.

ftheir upper and lower edges respectively with the recesses 13 eXtending in from the inner end to within a short distance from the outer end, the longitudinal side walls of said recesses being undercut as shown in 3. The sections '1' and 9 respectively are provided, with the outwardly extending tongues 14 having their inner longitudinal edges tapering as shown in 1 1, said tongues being slidably mounted in the recesses 13 of the sections 8 and 10. The sections are held securely against relative lateral movement by means of the guide plate 15 which is secured to the upper and lower edges of the sections 7 and 9 respectively, and the outer edge of said guide plate is bent downwardly as shown at 16 and disposed over the upper and lower edges of the sections 8 and 10. Thus it will be seen that the up per and lower sections 2 and 3 can be readily adjusted to various widths. When the upper section 2 has been adjusted to any de sired height the same is held securely in an adjusted position by means of the thumb screws 17 and the bottom sections 3 is held in place by means of the thumb buttons 18. A longitudinally disposed rod 19 is provided havil'ig its ends secured to the inner ends of the sections 8 and 10 to which the central portion of the screen netting is secured.
From the above description taken in connection with the drawings, it will be readily apparent; that we have provided a simple, durable and inexpensive screen frame which can be quickly and readily adjusted to windows of various sizes.
l l hile we have shown and described the preferred form of our invention it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying our invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope thereof.

A screen frame comprising upper and lower frame sections, each section comprising top and bottom bars, longitudinal side bars connectedv at their ends with the ends of the top and bottom bars, the longitudinal side bars of said upper section having dove tail grooves formed therein and extending the entire length thereof, longitudinal to" gues formed on the side bars of the lower and slidably mounted in said sections grooves so that the screen frame may be adjusted to various heights, and said top and bottom bars being adjustable so that the frame sections can be adjusted to various widths.
2. A screen frame comprising upper and lower frame sections, each section comprising a top and bottom bar and longitudinal.

3. A screen frame comprising upper and lower frame sections, each section comprising a top and bottom bar and longitudinal side bars, said top and bottom bars being formed of two sections, one of said sections having a recess formed in the outer edge thereof, the longitudinal side Walls of said recesses being undercut, outwardly extending tongues formed in the other of said recesses, having their inner longitudinal edges tapering, said tongues being slidably mounted in the recesses formed in the first sections so that the frame section can be adjusted to various widths, a guide plate secured to the outer edges of the tongues and having its outer longitudinal edge bent downwardly over the edge of the second sections, said longitudinal side bars of said upper and lower frame sections being adj ustable so that the frame section can be adjusted to various heights, and thumb screws carried by the upper section to hold the same in an adjusted position.
