Abstract

A method for roasting bulk carbon material includes material loading to electric calcinator, passing material with provision of its mixing through expanded and narrowed zones of electric calcinator with its simultaneous heating and unloading of ready product. Material roasting is carried out with sequential passing through zones of low potential and high potential heating. An electric calcinator for realization of the method includes a vertical cylindrical lined shaft, the upper and the lower electrodes connected to the power supply source, devices for loading and unloading and means for cooling ready product. In the upper section of the shaft an electrically neutral throttle is placed. The shaft includes at least one throttle connected to electric power supply circuit.
