A method for protection of the heating surfaces of boiler unit against rust during down-time includes intake of atmospheric air flow, its heating with external source of energy and supply to the heating surfaces with self-flow of chimney, with keeping at that the temperature of heating surfaces above the dew point temperature. Atmospheric air flow is first heated with outflow air flow.
