Abstract
A method for the prophylactic treatment of the primary headache comprises the selection of the drug based on the patterns of electroencephalogram (EEG) of the patient. The major EEG parameter is the amplituse of alpha rhythm. Then the phenomena of synchronization or desynchronization, or paroxysmal activity are identified. When middle or high amplitude EEG with synchronization and/or paroxysmal activity are evident, desynchronizing anticonvulsants are used for correction. In the case of low and middle amplitude EEG with desynchronization and without paroxysmal activity, antidepressants and neuroleptics are used.
