本發明係有關於具有環氧化之脂肪酸酯塑化劑的熱穩定聚合組成物。
塑化劑為添加至聚合物樹脂來提供柔軟性及可撓性之化合物或化合物混合物。鄰苯二甲酸二酯類(也稱作為「鄰苯二甲酸酯類」)為多種可撓性聚合物產物的已知塑化劑,諸如自聚氯乙烯(PVC)及其它乙烯系聚合物所形成之聚合物產物。
鄰苯二甲酸酯塑化劑類目前受到公益團體的密集審核,擔憂鄰苯二甲酸類對環境可能造成的負面衝擊,以及人類(特別為兒童)暴露於鄰苯二甲酸酯類可能對健康造成不良影響。
環氧化植物油類(諸如環氧化大豆油,ESO)已知為用於乙烯基氯樹脂類,諸如聚氯乙烯(PVC)作為共同塑化劑及共同安定劑的鄰苯二甲酸二酯類的有效替代品。環氧化植物油塑化劑習知只以小量比例(典型地不大於5 wt%至15 wt%)用於聚合物基體,原因在於較大量(大於15 wt%)存在容易導致擠塑(「擠出」)。環氧化植物油類也具有於升溫降解的傾向。此種降解成問題,原因在於當熱老化時造成聚合物的脆變及變色。
需要有環氧化脂肪酸酯其當應用作為聚合組成物的塑化劑不會擠出。進一步需要有不會擠出而又熱穩定的帶有環氧化脂肪酸酯之聚合組成物。
本揭示提供一種由聚氯乙烯樹脂、環氧化脂肪酸酯、及熱安定性組成物所組成的聚合組成物。該熱安定性組成物減少/消除擠出且熱穩定化該聚合組成物。更明確言之,該熱安定性組成物藉由避免脂肪酸酯的分解而於擠塑及/或熱老化期間穩定化該聚合組成物。
本揭示提供一種聚合組成物。於一實施例,提供一種聚合組成物,且包括聚氯乙烯樹脂、環氧化脂肪酸酯、及熱安定性組成物。該熱安定性組成物包括第一金屬鹽、第二金屬鹽、及β-二酮。
本揭示提供一種經被覆之導體。於一實施例,提供一種經被覆之導體且包括導體及於導體上之被覆層。該被覆層包括一種聚合組成物包含(i)聚氯乙烯樹脂、(ii)環氧化脂肪酸酯、及(iii)熱安定性組成物。該熱安定性組成物包括第一金屬鹽、第二金屬鹽、及β-二酮。

該聚合組成物含有自約10、或15、或20、或25、或30、或35、或40 wt%至約90、或85、或80、或75、或70、或65、或60 wt%含量之乙烯基氯。重量百分比係以聚合組成物之總重為基準。
於一實施例,該乙烯基氯樹脂為聚氯乙烯。
聚合組成物包括環氧化脂肪酸酯。該聚合組成物含有一、二、三或多種環氧化脂肪酸酯。如此處使用「環氧化脂肪酸酯」(或「EFA」)為含有至少一個環氧化物基之至少一種脂肪酸部分之化合物。「環氧化物基」為三員環狀醚(也稱作為(oxirane)或環氧烷),其中氧原子係接合至已經彼此鍵結的兩個碳原子中之各個碳原子。

該聚合組成物也單獨包括或除了EFA之外包括下列塑化劑:環氧化聚丁二烯、參(環氧丙基)三聚氰酸酯、雙酚A二縮水甘油醚、乙烯基環己烯二環氧化物、二環己烯二環氧化物,及其任一種組合。
該環氧化脂肪酸酯可以多種方式製備。脂肪酸可與醇(一元醇或多元醇)反應而藉由酯化、轉酯化、或交互酯化反應而形成脂肪酸與醇間之酯鍵聯,接著為此等酯化、轉酯化、或交互酯化反應產物之環氧化作用。不欲受任何理論所限,相信環氧化作用提高酯化、轉酯化、或交互酯化反應產物之之極性及溶解度,結果導致環氧化脂肪酸酯與聚合組成物間之可相容性增高。
天然油可用作為起始物料。此種情況下,天然油可經皂化成為脂肪酸,及然後如前文揭示使用醇類酯化。其次,低分子量酯類經環氧化。不飽和酯可使用過酸環氧化。
另外,脂肪酸之縮水甘油酯可透過表氯醇或相關化學品製備。於又另一個實施例,可使用醇類將三酸甘油酯轉酯化,及然後以過酸環氧化該不飽和脂肪酸酯。
於一實施例,環氧化脂肪酸酯可為任何環氧化脂肪酸C1-C14酯,包括甲酯、乙酯、丙酯、丁酯、及2-乙基己酯。於又一實施例,環氧化脂肪酸酯為脂肪酸甲酯之環氧化物。
脂肪酸甲酯製備之非限制性實例係始於大豆油,其中該大豆油係使用甲醇轉酯化而製造該油中之脂肪酸的甲酯。甘油由於不溶性而自該反應產物中去除。過乙酸於乙酸乙酯之溶液用來環氧化脂肪酸上的雙鍵。過酸維持低於35%過酸及35℃來防止爆炸。完成後,透過真空汽提而去除乙酸乙酯及產物乙酸。

於一實施例,該EFA為以生物為主之塑化劑組成物。如此處使用「以生物為主之塑化劑組成物」為植物衍生材料所組成之塑化劑組成物。以生物為主之塑化劑組成物為優異之原因在於其可減少溫室氣體,及允許使用者獲得碳信用額度及/或LEED(能源和環保設計指標)信用額度。

於一實施例,該熱安定性組成物之個別組分(第一金屬鹽、第二金屬鹽、及二酮)可能並非全部存在於一種化合物,反而可分開添加至該聚合組成物。
該聚通常係依據習知乾摻混法或濕摻混法製備。自摻混法所得混合物可進一步使用混合器,諸如班伯利(Banbury)批次式混合器、法瑞(Farrel)連續混合器、或單螺桿或雙螺桿擠塑機混料。

於一實施例,該聚合組成物包括安定劑與抗氧化劑。使用最適當的安定劑與抗氧化劑包裝,本聚合組成物適用於要求於升溫長期耐乾或濕絕緣測試的應用,及其它需求溫度係高達136℃的應用。
本聚合組成物可包含兩個或多個此處揭示之實施例。
本聚合組成物之前述性質使其極為適合用於電線及電纜被覆應用(夾套、絕緣體)、及特別高溫電線電纜應用。如此,本揭示提供經被覆之導體。「導體」為用來於任何電壓(直流電壓DC、交流電壓AC、或暫態電壓)傳輸能量的細長形狀元件(電線、電纜、光纖)。導體典型地為至少一根金屬導線或至少一根金屬纜線(諸如鋁或銅),但也可包括光纖。

被覆物可具有前文對本組成物討論的任一種性質。於一實施例,依據UL-1581測量,該經被覆之導體通過熱測試。
本聚合組成物出乎意外地發現具有可撓性、低塑化劑揮發性、低遷移性(低/無擠出)、低黏度,及高熱安定性等性質,同時含有環氧化脂肪酸酯作為組成物的一次塑化劑或作為唯一塑化劑。本聚合組成物出乎意外地發現符合及/或超越苛刻的136℃熱老化測試。當塑作為導體上的被覆物時,本聚合組成物出乎意外地發現符合及/或超越苛刻的於升溫的乾及濕絕緣耐性測試(例如75℃濕或97℃乾)。
適當經被覆之導體之非限制性實例包括可撓性布線,諸如消費者電子裝置之可撓性布線、電纜線、行動電話及/或電腦之充電器電線、電腦資料線纜、電纜、家用電器布線材料、建築物電線、汽車電線、及消費者電子裝置附屬軟線。
本經被覆之導體可包含兩個或多個此處揭示之實施例。
經被覆之導體諸如經被覆之電線或經被覆之電纜(具有選擇性的絕緣體層),帶有包含此處揭示之組成物之夾套可使用各種類型之擠塑機諸如單螺桿型或雙螺桿型擠塑機製備。習知擠塑機之說明可參考美國專利案第4,857,600號。共同擠塑及擠塑機之實例可參考美國專利第5,575,965號。典型擠塑機於其上游端有個料斗及其下游端有個壓模。料斗進給至料桶,料桶內含有螺桿。於下游端,介於螺桿末端與壓模間,有個篩網填充物及制動板。擠塑機的螺桿部分考慮劃分為三個區段,亦即進給區段、壓縮區段、及計量區段;以及二區帶,亦即後熱區帶及前熱區帶,該等區段及區帶係自上游排列至下游。另外,順著自上游至下游之軸線有多個加熱區帶(多於兩個)。若有多於一個料桶,則料桶係串接。各個料桶之長度對直徑比係於約15:1至約30:1之範圍。
本揭示之電線及電纜組成(亦即經被覆之導體)係經由將本聚合組成物擠塑至導體上,或擠塑至成束已絕緣的導體上,形成包圍該已絕緣之導體之被覆物(或夾套)而製造。夾套或絕緣體厚度係取決於期望之終端使用用途需求。典型夾套或絕緣體厚度係自約0.010吋至約0.200吋,或自約0.015吋至約0.050吋。本聚合組成物可自先前製造之組成物擠塑成為夾套。通常本組成物係呈丸粒形式為了容易進給入擠塑機。電線及電纜夾套或絕緣體可直接自混料擠塑機擠塑,而未通過將本組成物造粒的分開階段。此種一步驟式混料/擠塑法可免除組成物之一個加熱史步驟。
尼龍層也可擠塑至絕緣體上,諸如呈習知THHN、THWN及THWN-2組成。
本揭示之實施例之非限制性實例提供如下。

「包含」、「包括」、「具有」及其衍生術語意圖排除任何額外組分、步驟或程序的存在,而與其是否特別揭示無關。為了避免任何疑問,透過使用「包含」一詞所請求的全部組成物除非有相反陳述,否則包括任何額外添加劑、輔劑或化合物而與是否為聚合物無關。相反地,「大致組成為」自前文引述範圍中排除任何其它組分、步驟或程序,但非操作所需者除外。「組成為」一詞排除並未特別闡明或列舉之任何組分、步驟或程序。除非另行指示,否則「或」一詞係指個別以及以任一種組合所列舉的成員。
於一實施例,此處揭示之組成物為不含鄰苯二甲酸酯。「不含鄰苯二甲酸酯之組成物」一詞用於此處為去除鄰苯二甲酸酯或以其它方式不含鄰苯二甲酸酯之組成物。「鄰苯二甲酸酯」為包括如下結構式(I)之化合物:
其中R及R’可相同或相異。R及R’各自係選自含1至20個碳原子之經取代之-/未經取代之-烴基。如此處使用,「烴基」及「烴」等詞係指只有氫原子及碳原子之取代基,包括分支或未分支、飽和或不飽和、環系、多環系、稠合、或無環類別及其組合物。烴基之非限制性實例包括烷基-、環烷基-、烯基-、烷二烯基-、環烯基-、環烷二烯基-、芳基-、芳烷基、烷基芳基、及炔基-基團。各個位置3、4、5及6可由氫或其它部分所占用。
「聚合物」一詞(及其類似術語)為經由同型或不同型單體反應(亦即聚合)所製備的大分子化合物。「聚合物」包括均聚物及共聚物。
熱安定性組成物中二酮的存在係藉使用穩定THF萃取1 wt%,接著為液相注入GC-MS測定。β-二酮的識別係透過質譜的解譯及與外部標準比較執行。
碘值測定油的不飽和度,且係依據AOCS官方方法Cd 1-25(克碘/100克)測定。
環圈擠出係依據ASTM D 3291測定,其係藉由評級因180度環圈彎曲內側造成的壓縮應力所導致的擠出塑化劑數量,而測定塑化劑的可相容性。簡言之,使用此種方法,已塑化的聚(乙烯基氯)片材試驗件係彎曲約180度弧度,及固定於夾具上,該夾具係設計成可將其固定成期望的配置構象。試驗件係固定於經控制的溫度(亦即23℃),及於特定間隔時間,移開試驗件,於反向彎折180度,藉目測檢查及藉乾食指擦拭該區而檢查先前的環圈內側是否有塑化劑擠出證據。表1示環圈擠出的數值評級。
於200℃的氧化誘導時間(OIT)係使用差動掃描量熱術(DSC)測定。DSC單元預先經檢查來確保儀器已經使用高純度銦(熔點=156.6℃)準確地校準溫度。實驗前,確保DSC單元將達成200.0℃的恆溫,而氮氣及氧氣掃除氣體係連結至DSC掃除氣體進氣埠口。於開放式鋁盤使用約10毫克至15毫克試樣質量。使用單塊圓盤測試試驗件,獲得最為符合一致的OIT結果。如此模製的厚塊材料係用來確保試樣為均質,對測試結果的影響最小。試樣係以20℃/分鐘速率,於氮氣掃除下自室溫加熱至載明的溫度。試樣係於氮氣掃除下,於載明的溫度維持5分鐘時間來允許試樣及DSC單元於目標溫度熱平衡。經5分鐘維持時間後,氣體自氮氣切換至氧氣掃除。試樣係維持於帶有氧氣掃除的恆溫條件下直至獲得顯著氧化放熱反應。出現此種情況所需時間係取決於接受測試材料的相對氧化安定性。實驗唯有於獲得顯著放熱開始後才結束(亦即著毫瓦>2.00則放棄下個節段)。OIT值定義為藉由使用DSC資料分析軟體的起點選項,來建立作為起點時間。
指數(氧含量)係依據AOCS官方方法Cd 9-57測定。
聚合組成物中的塑化劑之可相容性也係藉目測檢查於升溫(例如113℃或136℃)老化經歷界定的時間長度(例如7日)的已模製或已擠塑試驗件評估。已擠塑試驗件可呈線形(亦即絕緣體擠塑在導體上)。
蕭爾硬度係依據ASTM D2240測定。
經被覆之導體(已擠塑電線)之表面光滑度係依據ANSI/ASME B46.1,使用日本密都東陽(Mitutoyo)製造的表面粗度測量裝置測定。
於未經老化試驗件、於113℃或於136℃或於60℃(QUV腔室及90%相對濕度)老化聚達8週之試驗件的抗拉強度(TS)、抗拉強度保持率(TSR)、抗拉伸長率(TE)、及抗拉伸長率保持率(TER)(於2吋/分鐘)係依據ASTM D638及UL 1581/2556測定,皆係於自經被覆之導體(擠塑電線)去除的模製厚塊或管狀絕緣體切割所得之狗骨頭狀物上進行。
「UL 1581」一詞為電線、電纜、及可撓性軟線之保險業者訓練所參考標準(Underwriters Laboratories Reference Standard for Electrical Wires,Cables,and Flexible Cords)。UL 1581含有導體、絕緣體、夾套及其它覆蓋物之特定細節,以及試樣準備、試驗件選擇及調理方法,以及電線電纜標準所要求之測量及計算之特定細節。
於23℃之體積電阻係數(歐姆-厘米)係依據ASTM D257使用500伏特直流電測量。自40密耳厚度模製厚塊切割3.5吋直徑試驗件,及使用惠普公司(Hewlett Packard)16008A電阻係數電池連結至惠普公司4329A高電阻計測試。
於136℃經7日後保有的重量(%)係於切割自30密耳厚度模製厚塊的1.25吋直徑試驗件測定。
濕絕緣耐性(WIR)係依據UL 83/2556,對帶有14 AWG實心銅導體及0.015吋絕緣體厚度測定。試樣長度為14呎,10呎盤旋浸沒於水中,兩端有兩呎用作為電源的引線。試樣係於75℃水浴及600 V AC老化長達36週。絕緣耐性係使用奎德克(Quadtech)1868A超高電阻計,以500 V DC施加60秒測定。第一次測量係於浸沒於水6小時後進行而未施加電壓。全部隨後的測量皆係以每週一次的頻次進行。
舉例言之,但非限制性,提供本揭示之實例。
實例1-6及比較試樣(CS) 1-8之組分提供於下表2。
多種熱安定性組成物之組成提供於表3,係得自各種材料之材料安全性資料(但二酮的存在除外,二酮的存在係經由使用已穩定的THF萃取於1 wt%,接著為液相注入GC-MS測定)。重量百分比係以熱安定性組成物之總重為基準。
進行各種熱安定性組成物之分析測試來檢驗β-二酮諸如羅代史泰83(二苯甲醯基甲烷)及羅代史泰50(棕櫚醯基苯甲醯基甲烷與硬脂醯基苯甲醯基甲烷之混合物)的存在。比較試樣2、3及4(CS 2、CS 3及CS 4)之熱安定性組成物不含β-二酮。
使用下列程序來製備實例1-6及CS 1-8之組成物。
- 預熱塑化劑至60℃歷至少60分鐘及於使用前振搖
- 稱量個別成分
- 首先經由將塑化劑組成物浸泡入PVC粉末內製造「乾摻合物」,及然後製造熔體混合物
- 使用下列程序來製造「乾摻合物」:
(a) 使用刮匙將全部組分(塑化劑及填充劑除外)混合於容器內來製造「固體混合物」。
(b) 於90℃及40 rpm使用附有西格瑪葉片的「40立方厘米」布拉班得混合碗。
(c) 溫熱2分鐘後,添加固體混合物。混合30秒。
(d) 添加塑化劑。混合360秒(6分鐘)。
(e) 添加黏土填充劑。混合60秒。
(f) 中止及移開「乾摻合物」。
- 該「乾摻合物」隨後使用下列程序熔體混合:
(a) 於40 rpm設定值使用附有凸輪轉子的「40立方厘米」布拉班得混合碗。
(b) 添加「乾摻合物」,及於180℃混合2分鐘。
自混合碗中移出的摻合物組成物於180℃壓縮模製5分鐘,及紀錄所得厚塊的色彩(以乳酪色為合乎期望)。於切割自30密耳厚模製厚塊的未經老化試驗件及於113℃或136℃老化168小時之試驗件測量硬度、重量、抗拉強度、伸長率(於2吋/分鐘)。熱老化試驗件也目測檢查表面上的擠塑物(擠出)證據。體積電阻係數係於切割自40密耳厚度模製厚塊之試驗件於23℃測量。蕭爾硬度係於250密耳厚度模製試驗件測量。結果示於下表4。
實例1-6於熱老化前及老化後具有滿意的性質。相反地,未使用任何熱安定劑製造的比較試樣1(CS 1)顯示低劣性質,亦即琥珀色(降解的指標)、較高密度、較高重量損耗及於136℃老化後之抗拉伸長率保持率不佳。含有硬脂酸鋅作為熱安定性組成物之比較試樣2、5及7(CS 2、CS5及CS7),導致實質上擠塑(擠出)及於136℃老化後極為低劣的抗拉伸長率保持率。比較試樣3及4(CS 3及CS4)為不含二酮之金屬鹽混合物,也具有琥珀色,指示於熔體混合及壓縮模製步驟期間出現顯著劣化。比較試樣6及8(CS6及CS8)含有硬脂酸鈣作為熱安定性組成物,結果導致顯著變色、擠塑(擠出)及於136℃老化後低劣的抗拉伸長率保持率。
實例1-6驗證帶有0.2至10 wt%熱安定性組成物含有混合金屬皂及β-二酮之PVC/ESO組成物獲得優異性質。
實例7及比較試樣9-11之組分提供於下表5。
使用下列程序來製備實例7及CS 9-11之組成物。
- 預熱塑化劑至60℃歷至少60分鐘及於使用前振搖
- 稱量個別成分
- 首先經由將塑化劑組成物浸泡入PVC粉末內製造「乾摻合物」,及然後製造熔體混合物
- 使用下列程序來製造「乾摻合物」:
(a) 使用刮匙將全部組分(塑化劑及填充劑除外)混合於容器內來製造「固體混合物」。
(b) 於90℃及40 rpm使用附有西格瑪葉片的「250立方厘米」布拉班得混合碗。
(c) 溫熱2分鐘後,添加固體混合物。混合30秒。
(d) 添加塑化劑。混合360秒(6分鐘)。
e) 添加黏土填充劑。混合60秒。
f) 中止及移開「乾摻合物」。
- 該「乾摻合物」隨後使用下列程序熔體混合:
(a) 於40 rpm設定值使用附有凸輪轉子的「250立方厘米」布拉班得混合碗。

自混合碗移出的摻合物組成物於180℃壓縮模製5分鐘,及紀錄所得厚塊之色彩(以乳酪色為合乎所需)。於切割自30密耳厚模製厚塊之未經老化試驗件及已經於113℃或136℃或60℃(QUV腔室及90%相對濕度)老化長達8週之試驗件測量重量、抗拉強度/伸長率(於2吋/分鐘)。熱老化試樣也目測檢查表面之擠塑(擠出)證據。也測量氧化誘導時間。結果示於表6。
比較CS 9-11,實例7之組成物具有極為優異之氧化誘導時間;於升溫之重量保持率(即使暴露於紫外光及90%相對濕度之高濕度亦如此);正割模數保持率及於升溫老化長達8週後之抗拉伸長率保持率。
實例8及9之組分提供於下表7。
使用下列程序來製備實例8及9之組成物。
- 預熱塑化劑至60℃歷至少60分鐘及於使用前振搖
- 稱量個別成分
- 首先經由將塑化劑組成物浸泡入PVC粉末內製造「乾摻合物」,及然後製造熔體混合物
- 使用下列程序來製備「乾摻合物」:
(a) 使用刮匙將全部(塑化劑及填充劑除外)混合於容器內而製造「固體混合物」。
(b) 使用亨謝爾(Henschel)型高強度混合機來於90℃設定溫度及1800 rpm製備3千克「乾摻合物」,首先熔解固體混合物歷60秒,然後添加及混合塑化劑歷經360秒(6分鐘)時間,及最後添加黏土及又混合90秒。
(c) 中止及移出「乾摻合物」。
- 「乾摻合物」隨後於45 rpm及區帶1=170℃,區帶2=175℃,區帶3=180℃,壓模=185℃之設定溫度使用錐形雙螺桿擠塑機(25:1 L/D)進行熔體混合。經擠塑之股線隨後經通風冷卻及造粒。
丸粒於180℃壓縮模製5分鐘。試驗件係切割自30密耳模製厚塊用於測試全部性質,體積電阻係數及蕭爾硬度除外。體積電阻係數係於切割自40密耳厚模製厚塊之試驗件測量。蕭爾硬度係於250密耳厚模製試驗件測量。經由使用25:1單螺桿擠塑機於40 rpm於170℃、175℃、180℃、185℃設定溫度將丸粒被覆於0.064吋(14 AWG)固體銅導體上用來製造電線/電纜。經被覆之導體外徑約為0.094吋(亦即厚約0.015吋絕緣)。紀錄導線擠塑期間之壓模壓力。結果示於下表8及9。導線於75℃之耐濕絕緣測量值示於表10。
實例8及9之組成物結果導致(1)不含擠出物之光滑電纜被覆物具有(2)於136℃熱老化後優異的抗拉性質保持率及(3)優異的電氣性質。特定言之,導線之長期耐濕絕緣性優異,遠高於0.115百萬歐姆/1000呎的最低合格要求,及24週後通過每週之耐絕緣性減低少於2%之安定性標準。
特別期望本揭示並未限於此處所含實施例及示例說明,但包括落入於如下申請專利範圍之該等實施例之修改形式包括實施例之部分及不同實施例之元件的組合物。
Claims (9)
- 一種不含鄰苯二甲酸酯之聚合組成物,包含:以聚合組成物之總重為基準,35wt%至70wt%之乙烯基氯樹脂;以聚合組成物之總重為基準,25wt%至60wt%之環氧化脂肪酸酯;及以聚合組成物之總重為基準,0.2wt%至10wt%之包含第一金屬鹽、第二金屬鹽及β-二酮之熱安定性組成物,並且該聚合組成物具有一0至2之環圈擠出值(loop spew value),其係依據ASTM D 3291測定。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之聚合組成物,其中該環氧化脂肪酸酯具有自3wt%至12wt%(oxirane)指數。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之聚合組成物,其中該環氧化脂肪酸酯具有自0至小於5之碘值。
