Description
本申請案主張美國臨時申請案第60/721,847號(2005年9月29日)及第60/718,475號(2005年9月19日)之優勢。
本發明係有關於在紙漿及紙的製造過程中改良光亮度及光學性質、防止光亮度降低及提高抗熱發黃性質之組成物及方法。
機械或化學製漿法所製得的紙漿的顏色從深棕色到淡黃色不等,視木材的種類以及所用的分離纖維的方法而定。紙漿被漂白得到白色的產品供各種應用。
漂白是將未漂白的紙漿中的吸光物質去除或改變。機械紙漿的漂白,目的是為了將紙漿去色而不溶解木質素。還原性(例如連二亞硫酸鈉)或氧化性(例如過氧化氫)漂白劑經常被使用。漂白通常是一種多級的方法。化學紙漿的漂白乃是脫木質素的延伸,而脫木質化則開始於消化階段。漂白通常是一種多級的方法,包括二氧化氯漂白、氧-鹼脫木質化及過氧化物漂白。
脫色通常是由於熱老化,在使用漂白紙漿的製紙方法的各階段中以及在所得的紙製品中會造成發黃及光亮度降低。工業界大量地投資於化學品,例如漂白劑及能改良成
品紙或紙製品之光學性質的光學增亮劑。然而,至今,結果而不令人滿意,且由於脫色及發黃所造成的經濟損失對在工業界一直仍是巨大的挑戰。因此,仍需要一種成功且實用的方法來解決紙漿及紙的光亮度降低及不期望的發黃問題。
本發明提供在製紙方法中改良及穩定光亮度(brightness)及提高抗發黃(yellowing)性之組成物及方法。
在一方面,本發明是一種製備光亮度提高及抗熱發黃性提高的漂白紙將材料的方法,包含(1)提供一漂白之紙漿及;(2)令該紙漿接觸有效量之一或多種還原劑。
在另一方面,本發明是一種製造光亮度及抗熱發黃性提高的紙製品的方法,包含:(1)提供一漂白之紙漿;(2)形成一含有漂白紙漿的水性儲備懸浮液;(3)令儲備懸浮液排出水以形成一薄片;及(4)令薄片乾燥以形成紙製品,其中在漂白過的紙漿中、儲備懸浮液中或薄片上添加了有效量之一或多種還原劑。
在另一方面,本發明是一種避免漂白之紙漿材料在儲存期間光亮度降低或發黃的方法,包含:在漂白過的紙漿中加入有效量之一或多種還原劑,以及視需要添加一或多種螯合劑及一或多種聚羧酸鹽。
在另一方面,本發明是一種經漂白的紙漿材料,其包含漂白之紙漿與一有效量之一或多種還原劑的混合產物,
其中該經漂白之紙漿材料相較於類似之未經過該還原劑處理的紙漿而言有較高的光亮度及較高之抗熱發黃性。
申請人也發現還原劑與螯合劑結合能有效地提高紙製品的光亮度,以及還原劑與光學增亮劑結合使用能提高光學增亮劑及功效並改良色彩圖譜。據此,就其它方面而言,本發明乃是將還原劑與螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑結合使用的方法,以製備具有較高光亮度、較高的抗熱發黃性及改良的色彩配置圖的漂白紙漿材料。
還原劑、光學增亮劑及螯合劑可以單獨使用或與已知之添加劑結合使用以提高所要之紙製品的性質。
本發明提供一種改良的方法,用以製造具有高光學光亮度之紙及紙製品。對於漂白紙漿及由漂白紙漿製備而得的紙製品而言,其抵抗熱發黃的光亮度安定化、色彩改良及光亮度的提高可以藉由在製紙過程中任一處將一或多種還原劑添加至紙漿、紙、紙板或薄棉紙中而達成。
光亮度(brightness)是一用來描述紙漿或紙的白度(whiteness)的名詞,尺度從0%(絕對黑)到100%(相對於MgO標準,其絕對光亮度為約96%),依據從紙上反射的藍色光(457nm)而定。“熱致光亮度降低”係紙與紙漿經過時間、溫度及溼度的影響所產生的光亮度降低(非光化學導致之光亮度降低)。“儲存期間之光亮度降低”是指在儲存條件下經過一段時間所發生的熱致光亮度降低。
經漂白的紙漿材料的發黃(光亮度反轉)是指漂白紙漿、紙、紙板、薄棉紙及由漂白紙漿所製備之相關材料經過一段時間之後所發生的光亮度降低。
本文中所述之還原劑適合用於製紙過程中的任何漂白紙漿材料及由漂白紙漿所製備之任何紙製品。在本文中,“漂白紙漿材料”係指漂白紙漿及由漂白紙漿所製備之紙製品,包括紙、紙板、薄棉紙及類似物。
依據本發明之還原劑包括能夠將漂白紙漿中之官能基從高氧化態物種轉化成低氧化態物種之化學物質。這種轉化的優點包括紙的光亮度安定性提高及光學增亮劑的性能提高。
在一實施例中,還原劑係選自於下列所組成之組群中:亞硫酸鹽(sulfites)、亞硫酸氫鹽(bisulfites)、偏二亞硫酸鹽(焦亞硫酸氫鹽)、烴硫酸鹽、硫代硫酸鹽、二硫亞磺酸、多硫磺酸鹽(polythionates)、甲脒亞磺酸(formamidinesulfinic acid)及其鹽及衍生物、甲醛亞硫酸氫鹽加成物及其它醛亞硫酸氫鹽加成物、亞磺醯胺(sulfinamides)及亞磺酸(sulfinic acid)的醚類、次磺醯胺(sulfenamide)及次磺酸(sulfenic acid)的醚類、磺胺類(sulfamides)、膦(phosphines)、鏻鹽(phosphonium salts)、亞磷酸鹽(phosphites)及硫代亞磷酸鹽。
在本文中,“亞硫酸鹽(sulfites)”係指亞硫酸(H2SO3)的二鹽基金屬鹽,包括二鹽基鹼金屬及鹼土金屬鹽,例如亞硫酸鈉(Na2SO3)、亞硫酸鈣(CaSO3)及類似物。
“亞硫酸氫鹽(Bisulfites)”係指亞硫酸(H2SO3)的單鹽基金屬鹽,包括鹼金屬及鹼土金屬單鹽基鹽,例如亞硫酸氫鈉(NaHSO3)、亞硫酸氫鎂(Mg(HSO3)2)及類似物。
“烴硫酸鹽(Sulfoxylates)”係指次硫酸H2SO2的鹽類,包括次硫酸鋅(ZnSO2)及類似物。
“偏二亞硫酸鹽(焦亞硫酸鹽)”係指焦亞硫酸H2S2O5的鹽類包括偏二亞硫酸鈉(Na2S2O5)及類似物。
“硫代硫酸鹽”係指硫代硫酸H2S2O3的鹽類,包括硫代硫酸鉀(Na2S2O3)及類似物。
“多硫磺酸鹽(polythionates)”係指多硫磺酸H2SnO6(n=2-6)的鹽類,包括三硫磺酸鈉(Na2S3O6)、二硫磺酸H2S2O6的鹽類,例如二硫磺酸鈉(Na2S2O6)及類似物。
“二硫亞磺酸(亞硫酸氫鹽)”係指二亞硫磺酸H2S2O4的鹽類,包括二亞硫磺酸鈉(Na2S2O4)、二亞硫磺酸鎂(MgS2O4)及類似物。
“甲脒亞磺酸(FAS)”係指式H2NC(=NH)SO2H之化合物及其鹽類及衍生物,包括鈉鹽H2NC(=NH)SO2Na。
“醛亞硫酸氫鹽加成物”意指式R1CH(OH)SO3H之化合物及其金屬鹽,其中係R1選自於烷基、烯基、芳基及芳基烷基。代表性的醛亞硫酸氫鹽加成物包括醛亞硫酸氫鹽加成物HOCH2SO3Na及類似物。
“亞磺醯胺(sulfinamide)及亞磺酸(sulfinic acid)的醚類”意指式R1-S(=O)-R2之化合物,其中R1如本文所定義,R2係選自於OR3及NR4R5,其中R3-R5係獨立地選自於烷基、烯
基、芳基及芳基烷基。代表性的亞磺醯胺包括乙基亞磺酸二甲基醯胺(CH3CH2S(=O)N(CH3)2)及類似物。
“次磺醯胺(sulfenamide)及次磺酸(sulfenic acid)的醚類”意指式R1-S-R2之化合物,其中R1如上述定義。代表性的次磺醯胺包括乙基次磺酸二甲基醯胺(CH3CH2SN(CH3)2)及類似物。
“磺胺類”意指式R1-C(=S)-NR4R5之化合物,其中R1、R4及R5如上述定義。代表性的磺胺類包括CH3CH2C(=S)N(CH3)2及類似物。
“膦”意指膦PH3的衍生物,通常是式R6R7R8P的有機取代的膦類,其中R6-R8係獨立地選自於H、烷基、烯基、芳基及芳基烷基及NR4R5,其中R4及R5如上述所定義。代表性的膦包括(HOCH2)3P(THP)及類似物。
“亞磷酸鹽”意指亞磷酸P(OH)3的衍生物,包括式(R3O)(R4O)(R5O)P的有機取代的亞磷酸鹽,其中R3-R5係如上述定義。代表性的亞磷酸鹽包括(CH3CH2O)3P及類似者。
“硫代亞磷酸鹽”意指硫代亞磷酸HSP(OH)2的衍生物,包括式(R3O)(R4O)(R5S)P的有機取代的硫代亞磷酸鹽,其中R3-R5係如上述定義。代表性的硫代亞磷酸鹽包括(CH3CH2O)2(CH3CH2S)P及類似物。
“鏻鹽”意指式R1R3R4R5P+X-的有機取代的膦,其中R1及R4-R5係如上述定義,且X是任何有機或無機的陰離子。代表性的鏻鹽包括(HO2CCH2CH2)3P+HCl-(THP)、[(HOCH2)4P+]2(SO4)2-(BTHP)及類似物。
“烯基”意指從直鏈或支鏈烴衍生的單價基,藉著移除一個氫原子而含有至少一個碳-碳雙鍵。此烯基可為未經取代的或被氨基、烷氧基、羥基及鹵素中的一或多個基團所取代者。
“烷氧基”意指經由一個氧原子連接到由母分子部份的烷基。代表性的烷氧基包括甲氧基、乙氧基、丙氧基、丁氧基及類似物。甲氧基與乙氧基為較佳。
“烷基”意指由一直鏈或支鏈飽和烴移除單一氫原子後所得到的單價基。烷基可為未經取代者或被氨基、烷氧基、羥基及鹵素中的一或多個基團所取代者。代表性的烷基包括甲基、乙基、正丙基、異丙基、正丁基、第二丁基、異丁基及叔丁基及類似物。
“伸烷基(alkylene)”意指由一直鏈或支鏈飽和烴移除兩個氫原子而得到的二價基團,例如亞甲基、1,2-伸乙基、1,1-伸乙基、1,3-伸丙基、2,2-二甲基伸丙基及類似物。
“胺基”意指式-NY1Y2之基團,其中Y1及Y2係獨立地選自於H、烷基、烯基、芳基及芳基烷基。代表性的胺基包括胺基(-NH2)、甲基胺基、乙基胺基、異丙基胺基、二乙基胺基、二甲基胺基、甲基乙基胺基及類似物。
“芳基”意指含有約5至約14個環原子的芳香族碳環基團及雜環基團。芳基可為未經取代者或被胺基、烷氧基、羥基及鹵素中的一或多個基團所取代者。代表性的芳基包括苯基、萘基、菲基、蒽基、吡啶基、呋喃基、吡咯基、喹啉基、噻嗯基、噻唑基、嘧啶基、吲哚基及類似物。
“芳基烷基”意指經由一伸烷基連接到母分子部份的芳基。代表性的芳基烷基包括苄基、2-苯基乙基及類似物。
“鹵素”意指氯、氟、溴及碘。
“鹽”意指一無機或有機陰離子性抗衡離子的金屬鹽、銨鹽、經取代之銨鹽或鏻鹽。代表性的金屬包括鈉、鋰、鉀、鈣、鎂及類似物。代表性的陰離子性抗衡離子包括亞硫酸鹽(sulfites)、亞硫酸氫鹽(bisulfite)、烴硫酸鹽(sulfoxylate)、偏二亞硫酸鹽(metabisulfite)、硫代硫酸鹽(thiosulfate)、多鋰酸鹽類(polythionate)、二硫亞磺酸(hydrosulfite)、甲脒亞磺酸鹽(formamidinesulfinate)及類似物。
在一實施例中,還原劑係選自於經取代之膦、亞硫酸鹽、亞硫酸氫鹽及偏二亞硫酸鹽。
在一實施例中,還原劑為亞硫酸氫鈉。
本發明之方法可在皆用的製紙設備上實施。雖然各種製紙設備在操作及機械設計上各不相同,惟,在不同設備上製紙的程序皆含有共同的步驟。紙的製造通常包括製漿步驟、漂白步驟、儲備液製備步驟、溼部步驟(wet end stage)及乾部步驟(dry end state)。
在製漿步驟中,藉由機械或化學的作用,或者兩者共同的作用,從纖維素來源中提取出個別的纖維素纖維。代表性的纖維素來源包括但不限於:木材及類似的“木本”植物,大豆、米、棉花、麥桿、亞麻、蕉麻(abaca)、大麻、甘蔗渣、含木質素之植物及類似物,以及原生紙及再生紙、薄棉紙及紙板。這種紙漿包括但不限於:細磨木漿(GWD)、漂白之細
磨木漿、熱機械紙漿(TMP)、漂白之熱機械紙漿、化學-熱機械紙漿(CTMP)、漂白之化學-熱機械紙漿、脫墨廢紙漿、牛皮漿、漂白之牛皮漿、亞硫酸鹽紙漿及漂白之亞硫酸鹽紙漿。再生紙漿在再生階段中可被漂白或不被漂白,但均被假定為原本已漂白者。事先未經漂白的上述任一種紙漿可被漂白,如本文中所述,以提供一漂白之紙漿材料。
在一實施例中,漂白之紙漿材料係選自於原紙漿、再生紙漿、牛皮漿、亞硫酸鹽紙漿、機械紙漿、這些紙漿的任何組合、再生紙、薄棉紙及由上列紙漿或其組合所製得的任一種紙。
本發明的另一個優點是,在印刷級牛皮機械紙中,能夠將低價的機械紙漿換成高價的牛皮漿。利用本文中所述的化學以及方法能夠提高光亮度及變黃的安定性,因此能夠使用更大量的機械紙漿,使成本對應的降低,不會降低所得的紙製品的品質。
紙漿在漿料準備的階段係懸浮在水中。在此階段亦可加入添加劑如增亮劑、染料、顏料、填充劑、抗菌劑、消泡劑、pH值調控劑及排水助劑。在本文中,“漿料準備”一詞包括在形成紙卷(web)之前可能發生的稀釋、過篩及清潔儲備懸浮液等操作步驟。
造紙方法的濕部階段包含將儲備懸浮液或紙漿液沈積在製紙機的造紙網(web)或造紙毛毯(felt)上以形成一連續的纖維網、令造紙網排水,以及強化造紙網(壓榨)以形成薄片。習知的任一種製紙機皆適合使用本發明的方法。這樣
的製紙機可包括圓網造紙機(cylinder machines)、長網造紙機(fourdrinier machines)、夾網造紙機(twin wire forming machines)、薄棉紙造紙機(tissue machines)及類似者,以及其改良型。
在造紙方法的乾部階段中,紙卷被乾燥並且可能接受額外的加工處理例如施膠壓榨(size pressing)、壓延(calendaring)、以表面改質劑進行噴塗、印刷、切割、起皺等。除了施膠壓榨機及壓延水箱之外,乾燥的紙可用噴塗柱以噴塗方式來塗覆。
申請人也發現還原劑與下述的螯合劑結合使用能提高紙將的熱安定性及減少紙漿中之發色結構,從而有效地提高紙製品的光亮度。
在一實施例中,將一或多種螯合劑加至漂白的紙漿或紙製品中。依據本實施例之適當螯合劑包括能將會與紙漿成份形成有色產物並會催化漂白紙漿或紙製品中之成色反應的過渡金屬予以螯合的化合物。
在一實施例中,螯合劑係選自於下列所構成之組群中之化合物:有機膦酸鹽、磷酸鹽、羧酸、二硫胺甲酸鹽(dithiocarbamates)、前述任一項的鹽類及其組合。

“二硫胺甲酸鹽(dithiocarbamates)”包括單體二硫胺甲酸鹽、聚二硫胺甲酸鹽、聚二烯丙基胺二硫胺甲酸鹽、2,4,6-三氫硫基-1,3,5-三嗪、伸乙基雙二硫胺甲酸二鈉、二甲基二硫胺甲酸二鈉及類似物。
在一實施例中,螯合劑為膦酸鹽。
在一實施例中,該膦酸鹽為二伸乙基-三胺-五亞甲基膦酸(DTMPA)及其鹽類。

在一實施例中,羧酸鹽係選自於二伸乙基二胺五乙酸(DTPA)及其鹽以及乙二胺四乙酸(EDTA)及其鹽類。
申請人又發現還原劑與光學增亮劑(“OBA’s”)共同使
用能提高光學增亮劑(OBA)及效果。還原劑亦能改良色彩配置。這使得OBA’s的及增亮劑的量得以降低,例如要達到相對亮度及顏色所需的藍色染料。將某些OBA與染料以還原劑取代能使製紙及製漿者能夠降低生產成本及降低OBA與存在染料的總量,而使所得的紙製品仍維持可接的光亮度並且達到目標顏色。在某些案例中,有可能完全免用染料而仍保持所要的顏色。
據此,在另一實施例中,在漂白之紙漿或紙製品中加有一或多種光學增亮劑(OBA’s)。
“光學增亮劑”是能吸收紫外光並且以更高的頻率在可見光範圍(藍光)重新發光,因此若加至紙漿供料中,能使所得到的紙張具有一種白色、明亮的外觀。但表性的光學增亮劑包括但不限於:唑類、聯苯類、香豆素(coumarins);呋喃類(furans);離子型增亮劑,包括陰離子性、陽離子性及陰離子性(中性)化合物,例如來自於Eastern Color & Chemical Co.(Providence,RI)的Eccobrite®及Eccowhite®化合物;萘醯亞胺;pyrazenes;經取代(例如磺化)的二苯乙烯,例如來自於Clariant Corporation(Muttenz,Switzerland)的Leucophor®範圍的光學增亮劑,以及來自於Ciba specialty Chemicals(Basel,Switzerland)的Tinopal®;這些化合物的鹽類,包括但不限於這些增亮劑的鹼金屬鹽、鹼土金屬鹽、過渡金屬鹽、有機鹽及銨鹽;以及一種或多種前述增亮劑的組合。
在一實施例中,光學增亮劑係選自於二磺化、四磺化
及六磺化的Tinopal®OBAs。
還原劑、螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑的劑量為使得漂白紙漿或由漂白紙漿所製得之紙製品達到所需的光亮度及抗黃化性質所需要的量,且熟於此技者根據螯合劑或光學增亮劑的性質、被處理之紙漿或紙以及施用方法,即可決定出該劑量。
加到漂白紙漿或紙製品之還原劑的有效量乃是能提高紙漿或紙的光亮度及抗熱黃化性質(相較於未經還原劑處理者)的還原劑的量。測定光亮度及抗熱發黃性質的方法述於本文中。
通常,在漂白紙漿或紙製品中加入約0.005至約2重量%,較佳地約0.05至約0.25重量%(以鍋爐乾燥的紙漿為基礎)的還原劑。
在一典型的應用方式中,在漂白紙漿或紙製品中加入約0.001至約1重量%,較佳地約0.01至約0.1重量%的膦酸鹽、磷酸鹽或羧酸螯合劑及/或約0.002至約0.02重量%之二硫代氨基甲酸酯螯合劑(以鍋爐乾燥的紙漿為基礎)。
光學增亮劑之添加量通常約0.005至約2重量%,較佳地約0.05至約1重量%(以鍋爐乾燥的紙漿為基礎)。
還原劑、螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑係在製紙製程或薄棉紙製程的任一個點上加到漂白紙漿或紙上。代表性的的添加點包括但不限於:(a)在消潛漿池(latency chest)內加入紙漿中;(b)儲存、攪拌或傳輸槽內加至漂白階段後的紙漿中;(c)在漂白、清洗及脫水之後加至紙漿中,然後再進行
行滾筒乾燥及閃蒸乾燥;(d)在清潔劑之前或之後;(e)在扇泵之前或之後加至造紙機頭箱(headbox);(f)加至造紙機白水中;(g)加至儲料罐;(h)在使用了諸如施膠壓榨機、塗覆機或噴塗桿的壓榨區中;(i)在使用了諸如施膠壓榨機、塗覆機或噴塗桿的乾燥區中;(j)在使用晶圓盒的壓延機上;及/或(k)在造紙機外的塗覆機或施膠壓榨機的紙上;及/或(l)在捲度控制單元中。
添加還原劑、螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑的實際位置將視所用的具體設備、所使用之實際加工條件等等而定。
施加方式可為習知用於造紙方法的任何方式,包括“分割式送料”:將一部份的還原劑、螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑在製紙製程中的一個點施加,例如加到紙漿上或加到溼紙片上(在乾燥器之前),而剩餘部份則在後續的點添加,例如在施膠壓榨機中。
螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑可與還原劑同時、在其之前或之後被添加至漂白的紙漿或紙製品中。光學增亮劑及/或螯合劑亦可與還原劑共同配製。
在一實施例中,一或多種還原劑及一或多種光學增亮劑係與表面施膠溶液混合並且於施膠壓榨機中施加。
在一實施例中,還原劑係在漂白階段之後於儲存、攪拌或傳輸槽內加至漂白紙漿中。
在這些位置處,亦可將一載體或經常用於製紙的添加劑加到還原劑、螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑中,例如滯留助劑、施膠助劑及溶液、澱粉、沈澱之碳酸鈣、細磨之碳酸
鈣或其它黏土或填充劑及增亮添加劑。
在一實施例中,還原劑、螯合劑及/或光學增亮劑係與一或多種部份中和之聚羧酸,較佳地是例如聚丙烯酸(CH3CH(CO2H)[CH2CH(CO2H)]nCH2CH2CO2H,其中n是大約10至大約50,000。聚羧酸可使用鹼金屬例如氫氧化鈉來中和以達到目標pH值(通常是5-6,如下文所討論)
在一實施例中,本發明是一種配方,含有一或多種螯合劑、一或多種還原劑及一或多種聚羧酸。該配方較佳地pH值約4-7,更佳地約5-6。
在一實施例中,本發明是一種配方,含有一或多種還原劑及一或多種光學增亮劑,以及選擇性的一或多種螯合劑或一或多種聚羧酸或其組合。依據此實施例之配方較佳地pH值約7-11,更佳地約9-10。
除了其它製紙中習用的添加劑之外,可使用還原劑、螯合劑及光學增亮劑及聚羧酸來改良完成的紙製品的一或多種性質,或有助於製造紙的製程,或兩種效果皆有。這些添加劑主要特徵為功能性添加劑或調控性添加劑。
功能性添加劑通常是用來改良或是提供最終紙製品特定具體需要的性質,包括但不限於增亮劑、染料、填充劑、施膠劑、澱粉及黏著劑。
另一方面,調控性添加劑為製造紙的製程中加入以改良整體製程而不會明顯地影響紙的物理性質者。調控性添加劑包括殺蟲劑、滯留助劑、消泡劑、pH調控劑、樹脂控制劑及排水助劑。用本發明之方法所製得之紙與紙製品可
能含有一或多種功能性添加劑及/或調控性添加劑。
顏料及染料為紙提供了顏色。染料包括具有共軛雙鍵系統的有機化合物;偶氮化合物;金屬偶氮化合物;蒽醌;三芳基化合物,例如三芳基甲烷;喹啉及相關的化合物;酸性染料(含有磺化基團的陰離子性有機染料,與有機配料如明礬一起使用);鹼性基團(含有胺官能基的陽離子性有機染料);以及直接染料(酸式染料,具有高分子量且對纖維素有特定直接的親和力);以及上述適當染料化合物的組合。顏料是經過精細切割的礦物,可為白色或彩色。最常被使用於製紙工業的顏料是黏土、碳酸鈣及二氧化鈦。
填充材料加到紙中是為了增加不透明度及光亮度。填充材料包括但不限於碳酸鈣(方解石);沈澱之碳酸鈣(PCC);硫酸鈣(包括各種水合形式);鋁酸鈣;氧化鋅;矽酸鎂,例如滑石;二氧化鈦(TiO2),例如銳鈦磺或金紅石;黏土或高嶺土,含有水合SiO2及Al2O3;合成黏土;雲母片;蛭石;無機積成岩;珍珠岩;沙;砂礫;沙岩;玻璃珠;氣凝膠;粉煤灰;氧化鋁;微球;中空玻璃球;多孔陶瓷球;軟木;種子;輕聚合物;硬矽鈣石(結晶矽酸鈣凝膠);浮石;脫層岩;廢棄水泥產品;部份水合或未水合之水硬性水泥顆粒;及矽藻土,以及這些化合物的組合。
施膠劑係在製紙過程中加到紙上,有助於防止液體穿透紙。施膠劑可為內施膠劑或外(表面)施膠劑,且可被用於硬施膠(hard-sizing)或軟施膠(slack-sizing)或這兩種施膠方法。更具體的說,施膠劑包括松香;以明礬(Al2(SO4)3)沈澱
的松香;松香酸及松香酸異構物例如新松香酸及左旋松香酸;硬脂酸及硬脂酸衍生物;碳酸鋯銨;矽氧烷及含矽氧烷之化合物,例如RE-29、GE-OSI及SM-8715,來自於Dow Corning Corporation(Midland,MI);含氟化合物,一般結構為CF3(CH2)nR,其中R是陰離子性、陽離子性或其它官能基,例如Gortex;烷基烯酮二聚體(AKD),例如Aquapel 364,Aquapel(I 752,Heron)70,Hercon 79,Precise 787,Precise 2000,Precise 3000,以上皆可購自Hercules,Incorporated(Willmington,DE);以及烷基琥珀酸酐(ASA);ASA或AKD與陽離子性澱粉的乳液;含明礬的ASA;澱粉;羥甲基澱粉;羧甲基纖維素(CMC);聚乙烯醇;甲基纖維素;海藻酸鈉;蠟;石蠟乳劑;及這些施膠劑之組合。
澱粉在製紙過程中有許多用途。例如,其可作為一種保持劑、乾強度劑及表面施膠劑。澱粉包括但不限於直鏈淀粉;支鏈淀粉;含有各種含量之直鏈溶粉及支鏈淀粉的淀粉,例如含有25%直鏈淀粉及75%支鏈淀粉(玉米澱粉)者,以及含有20%直鏈淀粉及80%支鏈淀粉(馬鈴薯澱粉)者;酵素處理的澱粉;水解澱粉;加熱澱粉,在此技中亦為“糊式澱粉”;陽離子性澱粉,例如由澱粉與三級胺反應所得的季銨鹽;陰離子性澱粉;兩性澱粉(同時含有陽離子性及陰離子性官能);纖維素及纖維素衍生之化合物;以及這些化合物的組合。
本發明的方法能製造具有光亮表面的紙製品。再者,此種新穎組成物並且能保護紙張在常規使用期間避免長時
間後發生掉色。
參考下列的實例能更瞭解前述說明,這些實例是為了說明本發明而非用來限制本發明之範圍。
在這些實例中,添加了足量的50%氫氧化鈉水溶液以使測試的試劑及組成物達到適當的pH值。這些實例中所有的百分比是以乾燥紙漿重量百分比為基礎。
在這些實例中,以下這些名詞各有其涵意:Br表示ISO光亮度R457(TAPPI 525);Ye表示E313黃色;Im Br表示塗敷後之R457光亮度;TA Br表示熱老化之後的R457光亮度;TA降低表示熱老化之後的光亮度降低;%Inh.表示光亮度降低的抑制%:100-100*(ImBr-TABr)/(ImBr-TABr)控制;WI表示E313白度;TMP表示熱機械漿;CTMP表示化學-熱機械漿;RMP表示盤磨漿;OBA表示光學增亮劑;FAS表示甲脒亞磺酸;TCP表示(HOCH2)3PHCl,三-羧乙基鏻氯化氫;BTHP表示[(HOCH2)4P]2(SO4)硫酸四羥甲基鏻;THP表示(HOCH2)3P,三羥甲基膦;EDTA表示(HO2CCH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH2CO2H)2,乙二胺四乙酸;DTPA表示(HO2CCH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH2CO2H)CH2CH2N(CH2CO2H)2,二伸乙基三胺五乙酸;DTMPA表示H2O3PCH2N[CH2CH2N(CH2PO3H2)2]2,二伸乙基三胺五亞甲基膦酸;以及DTC表示二甲基二乙二硫胺甲酸鈉。
從漂白紙漿製得手抄紙(handsheets),然後用於實驗
中,其中還原劑在鼓式乾燥之前或鼓式乾燥之後(鼓式乾燥期間之溫度:100℃)被施用在一張濕的紙片上(在壓榨之前或之後)。第三者選擇是分離式饋料施用(split-feed application)。表面施膠塗敷之後是在鼓式鎮乾燥機上乾燥一或多次。
測試之試劑或組成物溶液的負載量係依據紙漿試樣的乾重量來決定。試劑或組成物是利用一桿體來施用,儘可能地均勻,如水溶液一般。測試片利用實驗室鼓式乾燥機在不變的條件下乾燥(一次),然後,在測量光亮度之後,令其接受加速老化測試,如下述。
由測試片切割下來的3x9cm的試樣置於70℃的水浴,100%濕度下,維持大約3天。在測量光亮度之前,令試樣在一恆定濕度的房間中進行平衡。
將紙漿試樣(10%濃度,5克紙漿o.d.基礎)封在塑膠袋中並置於70℃的水浴中維持3-6小時。製備手抄紙,並且在測量光亮度之前,令其在一恆定濕度的房間中進行平衡。
實驗室鼓式乾燥機。
“Elrepho 3000”、“Technidyne Color Touch 2(Model ISO)”或其它用於測量光亮度的儀器。
Hitachi F-4500螢光光度計或其它用於測量相對螢光強度的儀器。

表面施膠塗敷套組(襯墊及3號塗敷桿)
恆定濕度房間(23℃,50%濕度)
水浴/恆溫箱,其中有一裝有紙試樣的漂浮塑膠盒
浸漬用之100mL施用透明小容器。
1.依據標準步驟,準備一張8x8吋的手抄紙。目標乾重量是2.5克。令溼的手抄紙通過鼓式乾燥機一個循環。
2.將手抄紙切割成4個小方塊。(重量各為約0.625克)
3.用思高(Scotch)膠帶將較小方塊(測試片)的一邊黏貼到玻璃板上(膠帶的長度大於測試片的邊長)。
4.塗敷桿置於思高膠帶上,用微量吸移管將體積約0.2mL的混合液塗敷在塗敷桿邊的膠帶上。
5.試劑溶液塗敷之方式係使得其均勻地分布在膠帶上以覆蓋整個測試片。
6.用塗敷桿從膠帶處快速地將溶液拖引至測試片之上使得還原劑化合物溶液均勻地塗敷在整個測試片上。
7.用鼓式乾燥劑將測試片乾燥並使其在室溫下平衡。
8.測量光亮度及黃色度。
1.依據標準步驟,準備一張8x8吋的手抄紙。目標乾重量是2.5克。令溼的手抄紙通過鼓式乾燥機一個循環。
2.從手抄紙上切割出1/8長條紙。(0.31克)
3.在一50mL的測試管中,依據預定的收集速率及目標劑
量,製備預煮的澱粉溶液(如果需要的話)及還原劑化合物溶液。
4.將長條紙浸在溶液中10秒鐘,令其滴水35秒,然後令其通過壓榨機。
5.用鼓式乾燥劑將測試片乾燥並使其在室溫下平衡。
6.測量光亮度及黃色度。用鼓式乾燥劑將測試片乾燥並使其在室溫下平衡。
1.製備一張8x8吋的紙片,用壓榨機將其脫水,該壓榨機底部有兩張吸墨紙,頂部有一張吸墨紙。
2.壓榨之後移除頂部的吸墨紙及最底部的吸墨紙。
3.將該紙片與另一張底部吸墨紙切成4個相等大小的較小測試片(其乾重約為0.625克)。

2.然後用4張吸墨紙襯墊造紙網上所形成的紙張。
3.使用一重的金屬滾筒將紙張連同吸墨紙一起壓平。此過程能將紙張過量的水去除以增加紙張的濃度至大約
20%。
4.將上面三張吸墨紙從紙張上移除。
5.然後將紙張與一張吸墨紙從造紙網上取下,並且切割成4片較小的紙片,如“濕部塗敷步驟”中所述。
6.然後,依照“濕部塗敷步驟”中所述,將紙張與吸墨紙用膠帶黏貼至玻璃板上。
7.依照“濕部塗敷步驟”中所述塗敷溶液2。
8.然後壓榨測試片,每一面各放2張吸墨紙。
9.在壓榨之後,將所有吸墨紙取下,用鼓式乾燥機將測試片乾燥。
然後將溶液2塗敷至測試片上,令其乾燥,並依“乾表面塗敷步驟”的步驟3至8所述進行測量。
化學品直接加入紙漿中(薄紙漿或厚紙漿),並且與紙漿在密封袋中混合。在提高OBA的紙漿塗敷步驟中,化學品直接加入濃度20%的漂白牛皮漿,再與紙漿在密封袋中混合並且在45-80℃下維持30分鐘。紙漿稀釋至5%濃度,加入OBA,與紙漿混合,令漿液在50℃下維持20分鐘。然後再進一步稀釋漿液,依據標準步驟製備手抄紙。
試驗數據是在南方牛皮漿廠(Southern kraft mill)所收集。下表提供了試樣數據。在許多測試中,在一施膠壓榨機中塗敷該產品(組成物A),且施膠溶液中含有OBA,劑量
為5lb/t及更高,均能提供1.5點的亮度增加,同時紙張的顏色有改良(反應在DE值的降低)。回復到標準工廠條件下(無加入任何穿透性組成物),造成光亮度降低至背景水平。將此實驗重覆作三次。
測試數個組成物並且在施用PM的實驗室模擬方面得到良好的結果。未列在表1中的化學品(組成物)是以40%溶液施用。
表3-8說明了還原劑亞硫酸氫鈉(偏二亞硫酸鈉)及一種增亮組成物對於紙張光亮度的影響:還原劑能改善光亮度
(表3-8),部份地補償在乾燥機中光亮度的損失(表8)。在OBA存在下,其化學機制更提高了光亮度。
含澱粉的樣本表面施膠溶液塗敷
表9-11顯示出偏二亞硫酸鈉之外的還原性化學品的效果,例如FAS及膦(III)化合物。
表12-27說明了一還原劑與螯合劑結合使用的組成物的應用。可將不同的組合作比較(皆為有效)。此配方可改良紙的長時間光亮安定性,減緩熱老化(表24-27)。這些數據亦證明了藉此組成物能達到OBA的活化(表12-14,表25)。使用此配方能降低光學增亮劑的使用劑量。表16及17說明了此配方在螢光性上所產生的效果。
為了後續OBA提高之紙漿施用步驟(80℃)
表28-30顯示了組成物的事先施用對OBA的活化作用。
這些數據(表31-33)顯示在使用本發明之配方後,發生了光亮度的回復及長時間的安定性。
以上乃就代表性或例示性的實施例來描述本發明,惟,這些例子並非用來限制本發明。事實上,本發明乃欲包括其精神與範疇之內的所有替換、變化及均等物,如申請專利範圍所定義者。
Claims (25)
- 一種製備具有提高之光亮度及提高之抗熱發黃性之經處理經漂白之紙漿材料的方法,包含:i)提供經漂白之紙漿材料,其係基本上由一具有至少約86.64之R457 ISO光亮度的經處理紙漿材料所構成;及ii)令該經漂白之紙漿材料在製紙製程或薄棉紙製程下與一或多種還原劑接觸,該還原劑以鍋爐乾燥的紙漿為基礎係約0.005至約0.08重量%,其中該還原劑係於下列情況加至該經漂白紙漿材料中:(a)在攪拌或傳輸槽內;(b)在清潔劑之前或之後;(c)在扇泵之前或之後加至造紙機頭箱(headbox);(d)加至造紙機白水中;(e)加至儲料罐;(f)在壓榨區中;或(g)在捲度控制單元中,其中該還原劑係選自於由下列所組成之組群中:亞硫酸鹽(sulfites)、亞硫酸氫鹽(bisulfites)、偏二亞硫酸鹽(焦亞硫酸鹽)、及二硫亞磺酸鹽(二亞硫磺酸鹽),其中該二亞硫酸鹽係選自於亞硫酸的單鹽基金屬鹽;而該亞硫酸鹽係選自於亞硫酸的二鹽基金屬鹽。

- 如申請專利範圍第13項之方法,其中該螯合劑係選自於由下列所組成之組群中:有機膦酸鹽(phosphonates)、磷酸鹽、羧酸、二硫代氨基甲酸酯(dithiocarbamate)、前述任一項的鹽類,及其任何組合。
- 如申請專利範圍第16項之方法,其中該螯合劑係選自於下列所組成之組群中:二伸乙基三胺-五亞甲基膦酸(DTMPA)及其鹽類、二伸乙基三胺五乙酸(DTPA)及其鹽類以及乙二胺四乙酸(EDTA)及其鹽類。
- 如申請專利範圍第13項之方法,其中該光學增亮劑係選自於二磺化、四磺化或六磺化之二苯乙烯衍生物。
