In one embodiment, the optical disc comprises: at least two plastic substrates (1) comprising a bonding layer and a data layer disposed therebetween, wherein at least one of the substrates (1) is a read side substrate comprising greater than or equal to about 0.01 wt% colorant, based upon the total weight of the read side substrate, and wherein the read side substrate has a UV Bonding Index of greater than or equal to about 0.5. One method for making the optical disc comprises: forming a first plastic substrate comprising greater than or equal to about 0.01 wt% colorant, based upon the total weight of the first plastic substrate, wherein a UV Bonding Index of the first plastic substrate is controlled to be greater than or equal to about 0.5, disposing a data layer between the first plastic substrate and a second substrate, bonding the first plastic substrate to the second plastic substrate with a bonding layer, and curing the bonding layer.

Description

INSTRUCTIONS INSTRUCTIONS (1) RELATED APPLICATIONS This application is a continuation-in-part of U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 09/683,346, filed on December 17, 2001. This manual is incorporated by reference. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present disclosure relates to a data storage medium and, more particularly, to a colored guest storage medium. Digital Multimedia Discs (DVDs) have slowly but surely replaced CDs. These formats offer significantly more storage capacity for CDs, which can record up to 8 hours of high-quality audio and video content. In 2001, the number of DVDs sold in the global market was nearly 10%, and in 2004, we predicted that it would reach about 4 billion. The construction of DVD discs has been changed to achieve a high storage density of the disc (the DVD has the same overall size as the CD). The most important and visible difference is that the DVD is no longer made of an i.2mm thick plastic substrate, but is made of two 0.6mm substrates bonded together (nm Taylor, ed· Me Graw Hill, 1998, "DVD Demystified: "). Further, the read laser wavelength has been changed from 780 nm (near-infrared spectral portion) for CD to 635 or 650 nm (visible light spectrum) for DVD. Depending on the type of DVD (DVD-5' DVD- 9 > DVD- 10 - DVD14 > DVD-18, DVD-R, DVD-RW, etc.), the DVD can be constructed from single-sided/single-chip (DVD-5) becomes double-sided/double-sided (DVD- 18), not to mention recordable formats (such as DVD-R and DVD-RW). INSTRUCTIONS (2) Strict specifications required by the Media Association (European Information and Information Systems Standardization Association (ECMA) Specification No. 267 for 1.2〇mm DVD-only discs) (Read first The fact that the backside note is refilled with this page} and the wavelength of the laser in the visible spectrum has made DVD manufacturing a challenge. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Intellectual Property Office, and the Consumer Cooperatives printed the DVD is not the only optical requirement for the substrate. In other words, the size of the pockets in the DVD is small, which implies that the DVD is more sensitive to resin quality (impurities) than CD. Because of the thinner size (0.6 mm instead of 1.2 mm), the DVD is molded. It is more challenging than CD. In fact, the rheology (flow characteristics) of the resin is important and closely controlled. Therefore, the inconsistency of the thickness of the disc is also one of the discs. Source. DVD is sensitive to the presence of such defects, because DVDs are not only thin and read within the visible spectrum, but also read at higher rotation/scan speeds than standard CDs. Multi-layer DVD formats (such as DVD-9, DVD-14, and DVD-18) represent the highest degree of difficulty due to the presence of a layer of fully reflective layer and a layer of semi-reflective layer (with 2 layers of pockets, for example, Geographically located locator-like pattern. Single-layer DVDs (DVD-5 and DVD-10) have no semi-reflective layers and contain only one layer of pockets. Due to differences in optical disc construction, single-layer discs The reflectivity requirements between the multi-layer discs and the multi-layer discs are very different. Up to now, the pre-recorded or recordable multi-layer type that can be obtained on the towel racks • DVD discs are made of colorless resin. The difference in appearance comes from the metal being plated (ie, the data layer). For example, when gold is used, a gold plate is obtained. Similarly, when silver, silver alloy or aluminum is used, a bright silver color is obtained. Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210X2) 97 mm) β 1273593 A7 ___B7____ V. Inventive description (3) Inventive stem (please read the back note first and then fill out this page) The present invention discloses an optical disc and a method of manufacturing the same. In one embodiment of the present invention, The optical disc comprises: at least two layers of plastic substrates, and an adhesive layer and a data layer between the two substrates, wherein at least one of the plastic substrates is a read surface substrate, which is greater than or equal to 0.01 wt% a coloring agent (according to the total weight of the reading surface substrate), wherein the reading surface substrate has an ultraviolet adhesion index of about 0.5 or more. A method for manufacturing an optical disc comprises: manufacturing a first plastic substrate containing a coloring agent greater than or equal to about 0.1% by weight (according to the total weight of the first plastic substrate), wherein the first plastic substrate is ultraviolet-viscous The index is controlled to be greater than or equal to about 0.5, and a layer of data layer is disposed between the first plastic substrate and the second substrate. The first plastic substrate is bonded to the second plastic substrate by an adhesive layer, and The adhesive layer is cured. These and other features will be apparent from the following brief description, detailed description and accompanying drawings. Description of the invention (5) Figure 14 is a graphical illustration of the absorption spectrum of the Daicure Clear SD-698 paint. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The DVDs currently found on the market are made of a transparent (colorless) resin. The transparent optical disc exhibits good photoelectric properties (reflection, chattering, intra-parity (PI) error, birefringence, etc.) and good mechanical properties (reflection, even after curing for 4 days at 80 ° C and a relative humidity of 85%). Tilt to / tangent/vertical). In the attempt to fabricate a colored disc, we have found that some of the colored contaminants have poor adhesion, which is reflected in the mechanical properties of the disc (i.e., radial/tangential/vertical tilt). In fact, several colored discs are completely out of specification (for example, radial tilt is greater than ± 800 millidegels (mdeg)), so they cannot be considered as functional discs defined by industry standard specifications (for 1.20mm DVD) European Information and Information Systems Standardization Association (ECMA) Specification No. 267 for CD-ROMs. 〇 Adhesion is equivalent to an adhesive layer (also known as lacquer or glue) used to bond a two-layer plastic substrate of a DVD. The curing is insufficient, and the sticking problem can be found in any kind of disc using color and glue, such as any type of DVD format (for example, single layer type (such as DVD-5 and DVD-10), multi-layer type (such as DVD·9, DVD-14, DVD- 18), etc.). Insufficient curing of the adhesive layer results in tilting or causing (in the case of the most grooves) adhesion is completely ineffective (the two substrates cannot be fixed to each other). The method of bonding the plastic substrate of the DVD disc can be ultraviolet (for example, the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210X297 mm) is applied to the paper scale (please read the note on the back and then fill in the page) Bureau employee consumption cooperative printing -9- 1273593 A7 __B7__ V. Invention description (6) 330~410mm) Irradiation adhesive (for example, photocurable adhesive layer) (Please read the back note and fill out this page) The way to implement it. The controversy over colored discs is that the pigmented substrate exhibits an absorption that depends on the level of colorant and the absorption of some of the ultraviolet rays of the chemical properties. When the amount of ultraviolet light penetrating the plastic substrate is low (for example, the ultraviolet light penetrating the transparent substrate is less than 1%), the problem of adhesion occurs. Printed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs Intellectual Property Office Staff Consumer Cooperatives The threshold energy is passed through the colored substrate to ensure proper bonding of the substrate layers in the colored disc. Threshold energy is defined as the total spectral energy (watts) that penetrates within about 330 to 41 Onm. We should emphasize that the threshold energy in this specification is defined by the same curing time as the transparent substrate. It should be understood that the lower threshold energy should be combined with a longer curing time to increase the efficiency of the absorption spectrum of the bonding layer and promote adhesion. Typical curing times are within 3 seconds and are preferred within 2 seconds. However, the operating cycle will increase considerably, which has a negative impact on the manufacture of optical discs, so it is not an option. The threshold energy can be quantified according to a parameter referred to as the "UV Adhesion Index" which is a function of the absorption spectrum of the colored substrate and the spectral distribution of the illumination source. In order to obtain the UV adhesion index, we first calculate the percentage of the output of the spectral energy output of the illumination source and the transmission through the colored plastic substrate as a function of the wavelength of a visible light spectrum over the entire ultraviolet line. The integral of this curve at a wavelength of 3 3 0 nm to the extent that the bonding layer is off (ie, the point at which the bonding layer no longer absorbs light) provides the total amount of energy penetrating the colored substrate in the spectral range. value. The ratio of the total energy of the colored substrate to the energy passing through the transparent substrate (calculated in the above manner) provides the ultraviolet adhesion index number 値. Although we can use the UV I above the scale of greater than or equal to 0 · 5 for the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210X297 mm) ~ 1273593 A7 B7 V, invention description (7) adhesion index 'but still preferred to be greater than Or a UV adhesion index of about 1. 较 is preferred to a UV adhesion index of greater than or equal to about 2, and a UV adhesion index of greater than or equal to about 4.0 is preferred. We have found that we can use the following UV adhesion index: less than or equal to 70, less than or equal to 60, less than or equal to 50, less than or equal to 40 'less than or equal to 30, less than or equal to 20, less than Or equal to about 10, less than or equal to about 5. We can calculate the UV adhesion index for any bulb. Some of the available light bulbs include: "D" bulb from Fusion UV Systems, FQ 20007 bulb for Flash Pulse UV curing system (Marubeni/Origin DVD Bonder), DVD Edge Cure bulb (M2 Corp) 'RC 742 bulb (from Xenon Corp) and so on. By the same token, we can calculate the UV adhesion index of any adhesive layer (at least a portion of the desired spectrum of light). Some of the available adhesive layers include: Daicure Series SD-693, SD-694 and SD-698 (Dainippon Ink & Chemicals, Inc.), Quretech DVD 065 and DVD 106, Kayarad MPZ-62, etc., as well as the aforementioned stickies. A combination of at least one of the layers. Referring to Fig. 1, a digital multimedia disc (DVD) comprises two bonded plastic substrates (or resin substrates) 1, typically each having a thickness of less than or equal to about 1.0 mm and a preference of less than or equal to about 77 mm. A thickness greater than or equal to about 0.4 mm is also preferred. At least one of the substrates comprises more than one (e.g., 3, 5) data layers. The first data layer 3 (often referred to as layer 0 (or L0)) is closest to the read side of the disc (surface 7). The second data layer 5 (commonly referred to as layer 1 (L1)) is second closest to the read surface 7. Typically, glue 9 and any ΜΜΜΒ aWM MW 11 are placed in the middle of L0 (3) and L1 (5) (please read the note on the back and fill out this page). The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Intellectual Property Office, Staff Cooperatives, Printed Paper Scale China National Standard (CNS) Α4 Specifications (210X297 mm) -11 - 1273593 A7 B7 V. Protective Coverage or Separation Layer 1 of Invention Note (8). The one-sided DVD (i.e., read from a single reading surface 7 disposed on one side of the DVD) may also include a label 13 disposed on the DVD side opposite the reading surface 7. In the case of a single-layer type DVD (DVD5, DVD 10) read from the reading surface 7, the surface to be molded is covered with a thin reflective material layer by sputtering or other deposition method. This results in a metal coating typically on the order of about 60 to 100 Å thick. (See Figures 3, 5 and 6) For a two-layer data layer type DVD (read from the same side as the read side 7, such as DVD9, DVD14, DVD18), the laser must be available from the first reading of the disc. One layer 3 is reflected, but is also condensed or transmitted through the first layer 3 when the second layer 5 is read. (See Figures 4, 7, 8, and 9; DVD9, DVD9, DVD14, DVD18, respectively). Therefore, the first layer 3 is from "translucent" (ie semi-reflective), while the second layer 5 is "total reflection". Sexuality. Under the current standards established by the Optical Media Association, the total reflectivity and semi-reflective data layers measured under electrical parameters R14H (described in ECMA Specification No. 267) are below the laser wavelength. The metallization combination should be about 18% to 30%. In the current DVD case, the laser wavelength generally used is less than or equal to 700 nm, and the preference is about 400 nm to 675 nm, which is preferably about 600 nm to 675 nm. Although these metallization standards were developed for the use of a DVD data layer of a colorless optical quality resin. However, these standards are also applied to DVD systems using colored resins. When the resin is colored, light can penetrate the substrate or be reflected from the substrate. The metallization characteristics and thickness of the semi-reflective layer and the total reflection layer (L0 (3) and L1 (5)) are suitable for allowing light to penetrate the substrate. The required reflectance can be measured on the paper scale using the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210X297 mm) (please read the notes on the back and fill out this page)

Invention Description (9) (Please read the note on the back and fill out this page). Obtain the following method: The thickness is balanced with the reflectivity of the semi-reflective data layer 3, and the thickness of the fully reflective data layer 5 is adjusted to ensure that the reflectivity of the data layer 5 is within the desired specifications. Metallization of individual data layers can be obtained using a variety of reflective materials. Reflective materials (e.g., metals, alloys, etc.) having sufficient layers to be used as semi-reflective and/or fully reflective materials can be used, and the material can be suitably sputter coated onto the substrate. Some useful reflective materials include: gold, silver, platinum, rhodium, aluminum, and the like, as well as a combination of the alloy and at least one of the foregoing materials. For example, the first layer/second layer of reflective data layer metallization may be: gold/gold, silver alloy/absolute, silver alloy/silver alloy, and the like. In addition to the total reflectivity of each layer 3,5, the difference in reflectivity between the reflective data layer (such as the layer 3, 5 printed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs Intellectual Property Office employees' cooperatives) should be limited to ensure sufficient Layer reflectivity. Conveniently, the difference in reflectance between the layers (e.g., the first layer and the second layer 3, 5) is less than or equal to about 5%, the preference is less than or equal to about 4%, and the preference is less than or equal to about 3.0%. The reflectance difference preference between adjacent reflective data layers 3, 5 is greater than or equal to 〇. 5 % left and right, and the preference is greater than or equal to about 1%. The following should be noted: although it is about the description of the second layer, we know that the number of layers above two layers can be used, and the difference in reflectivity between the layers should be as described above. The reflective data layer is typically sputtered or placed on a pattern formed on the surface of the substrate via molding, such as surface features such as pockets, flutes, bumps, and start/stop orientation. Wait). The deposition may include first spraying a layer of semi-reflective data on the patterned surface. Paper size Common Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210X297 mm) ~ 1273593 A7 ____ B7_ V. Description of invention (1〇) ° A layer or protective coating can then be placed on the semi-reflective data layer. If a multi-layer data layer type DVD (e.g., DVD 14, DVD 18, etc.) is to be manufactured, a second patterned surface (e.g., molding, etc.) can be fabricated on the side of the opposite side of the semi-reflective data layer. A fully reflective data layer can then be sputtered or disposed on the spacer layer. Further, in the configuration of the DVD 14, the total reflective material layer may be deposited on the patterned surface of the second substrate (or resin plate). A layer of spacer or protective coating is then placed over one or both of the semi-reflective data layer and the fully reflective data layer. The adhesive or glue can then be placed between the two substrates to bond the two substrates together to form a disc as illustrated in Figures 3-5. Optionally, the separation layer may be arranged such that several layers of semi-reflective data layers are disposed between adjacent layers. The reflectivity of the reflective data layer can be from about 5% to about 100%, depending on the number of reflective data layers. If a single layer of reflective material layer is used, the reflectivity of the data layer is preferably from about 30% to about 100%, more preferably from about 35% to about 90%, more preferably from 45% to 85%. If a two-layer reflective data layer is used, the reflectance of the data layer is preferably from about 5% to 45%, more preferably from about 10% to 40%, more preferably from about 15% to 35%, particularly preferably about 18% to 30%. Finally, if a multilayer reflective data layer (eg, more than two reflective data layers that can be read from a single read surface) is used, the reflectance is preferably from about 5% to 30%, preferably 5%. Up to 25%. A particularly desirable range is currently based on ECMA Specification No. 267, where a double layer DVD (eg, at least one layer of total reflection layer and at least one layer of semi-reflective layer) has a reflectance of about 18% to 30% or (Please read the notes on the back and fill out this page)

To aid in the processing of the polymer, especially polycarbonate, the catalyst can also be added to an extruder or other mixing device. The catalyst typically helps to control the viscosity of the resulting material. Useful catalysts include: hydroxides such as tetraalkylammonium hydroxide, tetraalkyl scales, etc., preferring diethyldimethylammonium hydroxide and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. The catalyst can be used alone or in combination with a passivating agent such as phosphoric acid or the like. Additionally, water can be injected into the molten polymer during the dispensing and will exit as a vapor through the vent to remove residual volatile compounds. The polymer is produced by using a tool which can appropriately mix various precursors, such as a single worm type or double worm type extruder, a kneader, a blender, and the like. The polymer is then formed into a substrate by molding, extrusion, rolling, molding or the like. Adjacent substrates are joined together by glue or adhesive such as a separator or adhesive layer. Any adhesive having the desired optical quality can be used. Some useful adhesives include: glue (such as hot melt adhesive), acrylic resin (such as transparent UV curable acrylic resin (that is, prefer to be greater than or equal to ultraviolet curable acrylic resin), etc., and the aforementioned paper scale applies. Description of Invention ( 19) A combination of at least one of the binders. Along with the binder, the separator layer may contain a transparent material. Some useful separator layers include UV curable transparent resins. Typically, the thickness of the separator (adhesive) layer is near or more than several hundred / / m, the thickness available is less than or equal to about 100 # m, and the current DVD format generally uses a thickness of about 40 / zm to 70 @ m . The color can be added to the DVD in a manner that can be incorporated into any combination of at least one of a substrate (e.g., a resin layer), a separator layer, a top cover, or a layer of the foregoing. The coloring of the disc can be obtained in several ways 'for example, using a pre-colored resin for the substrate and/or the separator, mixing the colorless resin and the color concentrate in the molding machine, and using a liquid or powder coloring method ( Or a combination of at least one of these methods). The colorant is introduced by: adding during the extrusion process, physically mixing the colorless sheet with the color concentrate before molding, or coloring the liquid or powder in the molding machine, the colorant and The concentration is chosen to meet the DVD specifications. Even if a colorant is used, the transparency of the substrate (e.g., greater than or equal to about 60% transparency below the read wavelength) is maintained to obtain a bootstrapable DVD. The transparency of the substrate is directly related to the amount of scattering particles present in the substrate and the size of the particles. If the particle is significantly smaller than the wavelength of visible light, the scattering is not significant. Since the colorant can be the primary source of the scattering particles, it is preferred to filter the colorant, especially the melt filtration process, such as during the addition in extrusion processing. Conveniently, the size of the filtered toner particles (and aggregates of particles) is less than or equal to about 200 nm (please read the notes on the back before refilling this page), and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Intellectual Property Office, employee consumption cooperative, prints

The factors determining the amount of plastic/colorant and the amount of colorant used are based on the above DVD specifications (EMCA Specification No. 267). The light transmission and the concentration of the toner are equalized to obtain the reflectance (about 18% to 30%) of the semi-reflective data layer and the total reflective data layer within the specification of the colored multilayer DVD. The transmittance of the substrate (i.e., half-sheet DVD) under the laser reading laser wavelength is greater than or equal to about 60%. The amount of colorant and the characteristics of the colorant (e.g., the shape of the spectral transmittance curve) depend on the target color and light transmittance. Figure 10 illustrates the different transmittances of some common plastic colorants. The colorant has a lower absorption coefficient at the desired wavelength (eg 65Onm), so it exhibits maximum transmission at this wavelength. This colorant is Suitable. The selection of a coloring agent having a high absorption coefficient at a desired wavelength limits the maximum amount of colorant that can be obtained for a functional multilayer DVD. Since the coloring agent having a lower absorption coefficient at a desired wavelength can be used in a higher portion in the blend, it becomes easy to obtain a target color in a functional DVD.
