Abstract

Wholly aromatic polyamide fibers which have an excellent mechanical performance (toughness factor) and are capable of being produced with a high stability in processability for fiber-formation, include a wholly aromatic polyamide and layered clay mineral particles, for example, particles of hectorite, saponite, stevensite, beidellite montmorillonite and swelling mica, in an amount of 0.05 to 20 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the wholly aromatic polyamide.
