FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: wastes containing, mas.%: metal phase 35-62 (Mg 25-52; Al up to 10; Zn up to 5, and other metals up to 5) and salt phase 30-62 with density of 1.75 G/cu.cm are loaded on flux containing, mas. %: MgCl4-30; KCl 20-90; NaCl 5-45. Quantity of flux amounts to 8-10 mas.% of waste mass. Then, melt is treated with calcium fluoride in the amount of 1-2 mas. % of waste mass and let stand for 30-60 min. EFFECT: increased output of SMT-2 furnace by a factor of 2.5-3.0 and amounts to 1000 kg/day and metal recovery reaches 70-74%. 1 tbl
