Abstract

The present specification discloses a hammer crusher for crushing hard and soft substances, comprising a frame, a feed aperture for material to be crushed, a rotor rotatably carried in the frame and to which have been pivotally or rigidly attached one or several substantially radial hammers, a drive means for the rotor, and a bottom lattice set through which the material comminuted to be small enough can pass. Compared with prior art hammer crushers, the crusher of the invention has been improved in that the bottom lattice set (12) is formed by a plurality of elongate structures (4), e.g. rollers 9 which are so disposed that the centremost structures (4) are located lower than the elongate structures (4) arranged at opposite ends of the lattice set (12). By this arrangement improved flow and filtering of products is achieved. The space between structures 4 may be variable, and all rollers 9 including those of scrap screen 7, may be rotatably driven, to encourage flow of light-weight material e.g. peat. The tips of hammers 3 may keep lattice set 12 clear. <IMAGE>
