Abstract

1,075,536. Hammer mills. W. DIEFENBACHER. July 13, 1964 [July 11, 1963], No. 28852/64. Heading B2A. A swing-hammer mill for crushing earth, peat, garbage &c. comprises rows of hammers 5 pivotally mounted on a rotor 2 to pass through gaps between counter-hammers 6 secured to a common support 7, so as to form a breaking member, which may be adjusted radially to the rotor shaft. As described, a pivotally mounted and oscillated swinging deflector 3 directs a stream of material into the rotor and the support 7 is mounted between guide plates 8 rotatable at 9 and held in a neutral position by adjustable springs 10, so that rotation of a handwheel 11 varies the depth of engagement of the comb.
