Abstract

A method in the dry end of a papermachine is described, which serves for stabilising the running of the paper web. In the method, the paper web (W) is transported, borne by a cloth such as, for example, a drying screen (12), from one row of drying cylinders (10, 11) to another in such a way that the web (W) is located between the drying screen and the cylinder surface on one of the rows of drying cylinders and, on the other row of drying cylinders, runs on the outer surface of the drying screen. In the method, blowing devices are used, by means of which the running of the web in the common passes, extending between the rows of drying cylinders, of web and drying screen (12) is stabilised. In the regions of the two edges (W') of the web (W), air jets (F1) are blown out on the side of the drying screen (12) in the direction opposite to the running of the drying screen and of the web, and these are directed in the region of the wedge-shaped space (K-), formed between the drying cylinder (10) and the web (W) borne by the drying screen (12), against the drying screen (12) at least up to the base line (B) of the said wedge-shaped space (K-).
