Abstract

1,084,385. Mixing powdered substances. G. GRUN [trading as GEBRUDER GRUN K. G.]. July 22, 1965 [July 23, 1964], No. 31301/ 65. Heading B1C. Powdered materials are mixed together in tanks 1 and 2 and then weighed into a hopper 5 and transferred in a continuous stream by means of wheels 6, 8, a screw 7 and a pneumatic conveyor 9 to a disperser 10 which extends down into a mixing chamber 11 where the powders are mixed with another gaseous, liquid or solid material entering via a plurality of apertures 19 around the chamber 11, each aperture having a spray nozzle 18 emitting the gaseous, liquid or solid material supplied from tanks 30. The nozzles are mounted on annular conduits 22 embracing the chamber. Air is drawn upwardly through the chamber 11 entering via the tapered outlet and apertuers 19 and leaving by a flow control valve 16 for separators 33 which return any trapped powder to the chamber along a line 36. The mixture is discharged via a hopper which may incorporate drying or cooling means. Metering valves are incorporated in supply lines to and from the chamber.
