Изобретение относится к металлургическому оборудованию, преимущественно к способам и устройствам для сжигания органических веществ, технологической оснастки и др., содержащих отходы драгоценных металлов с целью их утилизации. Предлагаемый способ включает процессы сжигания отходов, дожигания продуктов сжигания и дальнейшего извлечения драгоценных металлов из золы, например, химическим путем. Особенностью способа является то, что осуществляют процесс дожигания как твердой части отходов процесса сжигания, так и газообразных. При этом твердые отходы дробят в зоне горения, затем собирают золу в контейнер, куда подводят газообразный окислитель. Устройство содержит камеру сжигания с загрузочной дверцей, нагревательными элементами и многоярусными колосниковыми решетками. Отходы, например, ювелирного производства, содержащие частицы драгоценных металлов, сгорают на решетке, и зола постепенно проваливается в камеру дожигания твердых отходов, снабженную нагревательными элементами и контейнером, куда подается дутье воздуха или кислорода.
